Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we're about 2 weeks away from the press release if it's on the same schedule as Two Towers. That's exciting!

No, your about right on track. And yes its very exciting. I bet Doug doesn't pop up again until the PR and do what he did last year and just write "Tomorrow" and get everybody thinking and guessing what he meant, but now we will all know better.

    Do we?
We only know a third LOTR CR is coming. We know nothing about the book, other than it will be awesome; we know nothing about the multimedia content, other than it will be astounding; we know nothing about that rumored bonus disc(s), other than it (they?) will be spectacular.

    So, do we know better?

Actually, I don't, but I've grown weary of all this pre-anticipation and announcing of announcements. As long as I get RotK:CR for Christmas, everything's fine by me.

I doubt that. Concerning the size of the final CR installment, the PR and release schedule must vary from the previous ones, and not to the closer dates.

    Hi everyone,

    Bullet points!

--Packaging and liner notes mock-ups now back from Warner / Smog Design… oh, and front cover sticker, too! Looks beautiful. Now editing. You should be green with envy.

    --Track titles officially finalized.

--Don’t know when the press release will be, but I’ll again stress we’re currently on a timeline that looks a great deal like last year’s. Take that as you will, armchair detectives of the net.

--Book / rarities discs on target for 2008… as of right now. I’d be surprised to see that change. Just pointing this out for those of you budgeting… ROTK will be released by itself this year. Hope this helps you plan accordingly. I don’t know the price tag, and I likely won’t until you do. Maybe Santa can help you out with all the above.

More later, eyeball-deep in work! Enjoy your embedded hints.

    -Doug

2008 for the book is fine with me, as long as it isn't too far into 2008.

I already feared it would be like that.

Woohoo... Thanks Doug, you're the best. You're apt to dropping subtle hints like this and that's what makes your posts special

In related news, www.howardshore.com has been slightly updated. It now mentions ROTK:CR for Fall 2007. Not like we didn;t know it, but still...

    Better and better!!

Mae govannen! Thanks for the great news mr. Adams,.So,if you said that the "rarities discs" will be launched in 2008,along with the book, than why would ROTK:CR need 4 discs? And if it will have 4 discs, will it be enough music space for one DVD?

It was stated early on in the project by even Howard Shore himself that with how long the score for Return Of The King is it would definitely require to be spread out onto 4-CD's and 2-DVD's.

The rarities thing will have just alternates and I think some more unused material.. not quite sure on that part hence why they're releasing it separately.

"The White Tree" and "The Black Gate Opens" ...
I haven't heard it again after a few months. The construction und building of the music is so great.
I can't wait to hear the music in the new fresh and clear mix

I don't know for absolute certain, but I'll quote a much earlier post:

    quote:

It is not all that the advanced resolution format can offer, but it was a decent compromise, and it sounds much better than the CDs do."

I think it will be one DVD. Why else would they have chosen a less-than-optimal format that left a decent amount of space on the DVDs of both Fellowship and Two Towers if they would were going to alleviate all concerns for storage capacity for RotK by including 2 DVDs (which will leave a colossal amount of space unused)? I'm sure all of this was thought out carefully beforehand.

We'll all know for sure within a few months.

The last couple of days, I've been listening to the CRs and it's really getting my appetite whetted for the ROTK CR!

In addition to hopefully soon finding out the track titles, perhaps we'll also soon get to know what cast performances are included (I'm thinking Viggo's and Billy's are a given, since they were on the OST, and that Liv will be in there too, since Doug has said as much, but are there others?).

    My thoughts excactly, fanz_conrad!
I don't care how the tracks are called.
I want to listen to the MUSIC, not the track titels. Hey, they could name them "track 1", "track 2", "track 3",...

    Concerning the cast performances:
Don't forget the Drinking Song in Edoras. Since they included the Green Dragon Song, I'd be surprised, if it would be missing.
But I doubt that Gollum's "Little Fly-Song" will make it

I guess Olorin was thinking more in the lines of "it would be nice to know the track titles
so we could all start a giddy speculation of what music goes exactly where and all that".
The classic giddy fan stuff. I think we are getting near the time of the year when we all start sounding like drug addicts desperate for another LotR fix I know that from reading my own posts close to the release of previous CRs. It is almost embarrasing.

Oh and that "Little Fly-Song" is few seconds long and doesn't add much to the Shelob's Lair score. It is almost spoken anyway so I would not count that as a song. A nice nasty little ditty in the film but I really wouldn't care to see it on the CR.

If "Gollum's Fish Song" didn't make it to the TTT:CR, maybe the "Little Fly-Song" won't appear on the ROTK:CR either.Although, it would be nice to have them both on the so-called "rarities discs";along with "The Song of the Entwives" of course.

    don't panic!
but if it does, we can jump together!

but I don't think it will.
It's no music that HS had to "compose around", like Pippins Song oder Eowyns Lament ... or even Gandalfs "the road goes ever on and on ..." in the beginning of FotR.
for me it's just not part of the musical concept!

Thanks for the quick reply, Doug!

No surprises though, we thought/knew/hoped that Gollums Fly-Song won't appear...
I like it, but I have to admit that it doesn't belong on the CR.
I don't like the Entwives-Song (if you can call it 'song' at all) though, I keep thinking:'Nasty Treebeard, spoils nice music'

I'm a 'giddy fan' since April (and proud of it!), so you're probably right - speculations of 'what music goes exactly where' could be fun, I haven't thought of the track titels that way...
