Topic: LOTR Package Update?

No reason to panick over the delay of a press release. What makes you think the press release has anything to do with the release date of the CR? The end of October is still two months ahead. The trailer for ROTK (and i think the DVD of TTT, too) came out later than the year before, but that didn't affect the release of the film, did it?

I'm sure it will come out on time. What has occured to me is that since 2001 something having to do with The Lord of the Rings has come out each subsequent year, or at least it seems that way. When The Return of the King: The Complete Score (and the other book Doug's talked about) finally comes out that will be it! After 2007 no more stuff!
I'm going to go through some serious withdrawal symptoms!

I think, O fellow maniacs of M-E, we must now confront the ugly reality: There never really was a Peter Jackson LotR film, there never really was a glorious and gorgeous H Shore score, there never really was a CR of the FotR... we are all in mass delusion and are about to wake up from our dreams of green shores under a swift sunrise...
Seriously though, I think we had better steel ourselves to the probability that if the (by now anticlimactic) "press release" of rumor has been this delayed, the release date of the CR of TTT will also most likely not be possible by Oct 24 and will appear later, perhaps MUCH later!! If it has "been delayed" methinks a foul balrog has seized it and we can only hope it will yet emerge at all!!! snif, snif... waaaah!
PS: Of course, if my past luck is any indication: now that I have said that, the blasted press release will suddenly emerge in the next few hours.... (I hope!)Timothy Fisher, alias "Timdalf"

I hope you are right, of course, but it seems to me if they are having this much trouble about a mere press release, it might herald delays in something as complex as the actual product... Evidently they must hesitating to set a date for the final release. Otherwise, why this long a delay?

Earl refuses to be a part of the watching and waiting anymore. He'll be part of the Dwarvish racket few months from now though
And those withdrawal symptoms after 2007. Seems like I'm getting a sneak preview of it right now, duh...

Yes, but I think this is the longest relevant thread. That thread had nothing to do with film scores.

Hey vdemona...looks like there's not going to be any withdrawal symptoms after 2007 after all...it's official, MGM has announced that they'd like to do The Hobbit in the next few years - maybe in 2 parts, and maybe with Peter jackson at the wheel.
Lets just hope and pray that the same team works on this as well...
...and maybe lots and lots more liner notes from you huh Doug??
to keep you busy till 2010.And Mr.Shore. Hope you can score The Hobbit as well - that 20 second piece when Gandalf first looks at the Map of the Lonely Mountain and the variation heard again when Bilbo is fawning over the Ring just before Gandalf turns angry is evidence that you can really evoke the same sense of adventure, pity and dread in The Hobbit.

...and if Mr.Shore scores The Hobbit, I don't see this thread ending anytime in the near future, atleast not as long as guys like you are still around
Cheers Beren, Timdalf, AustinHusker, Marian, Eldarion, Beren and Gkgyver....and Mr.Shore and Doug definitely!!

now is there going to be a press release, because its getting to the point where with 6.5 - 7 weeks to go a press release aint going to be that exciting because we already pretty much know the release date, if the press release is going to come out they should atleast include some pictures because by now they should have the design fairly finished

That was the first thing that popped into my mind as well!
On a more serious note, let's take a moment to reflect what happened 5 years ago today, 09/11/01. Never forget!!! We will prevail!!

"Tomorrow" probably just means that he's going to answer our questions (which are few this time around) and tell us a little something that should make us grin at our computer screens. Nothing spectacular, though I wouldn't mind being wrong about this.
