Would those be the seamless branching editions on two sides of a disc with no DTS-ES track?

Hey Doug, one question. When making the CR sets, do you have to re-record all the music that Shore wrote, or is it saved somewhere and you just have to edit it onto the CDs?

Alright, alright, two questions! You mentioned earlier that the liner notes were nearly finished, and you posted the word count. Is it finished now? Just curious.

All these questions about the making of these CRs just made me think of a great idea. I'm sure its been thought of before, but hear me out.
How many of you out there would be interested in seeing a little "making of" featurette about how these CRs were produced? Maybe it could be included on the last CR project (ROTK), or with Adams' book due to come out. This would of course only be possible if a camera has been recording what has been going on since the beginning. Then again, even an interview with Shore, Adams, and anyone else involved talking about this project would be appreciated as well.

SB, that is a very good idea, I know for one that I would love to see a behind the scenes documentary about the making of the CRs. Including something like this with the upcoming book would be a nice bonus!

I think I can answer this question on Doug's behalf. The music is NOT re-recorded. It is the original recording sessions tapes and the music is just edited and mixed for the CR sets.
I can imagine that re-recording these scores would be a huge and wasted undertaking since those pristine recording sessions tapes exist.

I would be interested too in seeing a behind the scenes documentary of the creating of the CR recordings. Incorporating that into Doug's book is an awesome idea. I'm so looking forward to hearing Doug this weekend at ELF.

Hey! Does anyone have an inkling as to what colour the actual CDs and DVD will be? I read somewhere that the box will probably match the limited edition soundtrack releases, so I'm assuming it'll be a green box. But I hope the CDs/DVD have a colour as elegant as the cream Fellowship ones. This may sound silly, but I somehow can't comprehend green discs.

I think it's the wait that's making me all jumpy

I think you confuse something here. TTT had a dark blue leather cover, it's ROTK that came in green.

Personally, I would gladly exchange an inside-look about he CR for another featurette about the actual scoring process of the movie. I can never get enough of that!
And I doubt that after Doug's elaborate answering sessions here, there will still be questions unanswered

    Hi everyone,

I’m just in from LA and about to head out to NY, so I’ve only a few seconds. I’ll dig into the questions next week when I return, but I wanted you all to know I’ve just received permission to make a few “big” announcements at the onering.net convention this Saturday. Come prepared to take notes!

And by all means, come and say hi.

Hello, everyone! I'm newly registered here, but I've observed this site for at least a year now. I would like to know what "cues"(sorry Howard and Doug) all of you are looking forward to hearing the most from TTT CR. This goes for released and unreleased music. I know, every mili-second is superior, but pick "favorites" if you can. Have a great day!

Save that question for Doug, I think he can put it more eloquently.
I think it has something to do with Shore always emphasising the operatic aspect of Lord of the Rings.

    Hi everyone,

Well, some bad news for a few of you, I’m afraid. Due to lightning, overbooked airports, and a bit of bad luck, I will not be in New Jersey tomorrow speaking at the onering.net convention. I offer my most sincere apologies to any of you who planned to attend, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do at this point. Nature has one again triumphed against the fires of industry.

I’ll be back to answer questions later in the weekend. I’ve been running around all day trying to figure a way out east, so I’m pretty well exhausted by now.

Oh, but at least one bright spot… expect to see the Two Towers release date announced in a press release this coming week!

    Doug,

I'm so sorry that you weren't able to make it out East yesterday due to storms. It is totally understandable; the weather has been a roller coaster here in NJ the past several weeks. Main thing is that you are ok and that's what is important. Thank you for the post letting us know. Take care and looking forward to your next posting.

Hey Timdalf...dunno that, but you know what? Though you can't see it on Amazon, there's this great looking box that you get when you buy all 3 together. Maybe that's why it's more expensive. I have the pic with me...it looks really neat. Lemme know if you want to have a look at it.

Also, if you're planning on pre-ordering, make sure it comes with the box...we doesn't want it without the box now, do we, precious??
