'Cause the score rocks numb nuts!

Look, I know the movie sucks and I know why it sucks, but I had a great time at Transformers with my brother and the score is wicked ... We should all be so lucky and get excited about "art" like Rescue Dawn. Read the thread, most of it is devoted to the score.

I'm not gonna' get too excited about a new Herzog movie with a score by Klaus Badelt, of all people, though his score is actually pretty decent for the first time--but it sure isn't Simpsons or Pirates 3 or Transformers!

I have gotten a reply from the sound designer mel wesson and the percussion/choir orchestrator Frank Macchia for Transformers and they have both said that they have no knowledge of a score cd release as of right now for the film.

Here is what I know so far:

    1. Lorne Balfe said: There is talk of a score for transformers coming out but it will be at least another 2 months!

    2. Mel Wesson said: That's a question a lot of people are asking but to tell the truth I have no idea what's happening with the album. It would surprise me if the score wasn't released, although people tell me soundtrack albums without high profile songs seldom sell that well. That said it's a big movie, there's a market for the score and I'm sure it'll be available at some stage.

    3. Frank Macchia said: I have not heard that there will be a score release of Steve's music to Transformers. It's possible that down the road a CD will come out, but I do not know of any CD presently planned.

    4. SonyMusicStore Customer Service said: At this time, there are no immediate plans regarding the release of the Transformers soundtrack score.

If anyone else heres any new news please post it, Thanks, All!

The score was done up at a sony studio

well there is hope i found this at Wikipedia

    Music
    See also: Transformers: The Album
Composer Steve Jablonsky, who collaborated with Bay on The Island, scored music for the teaser trailer long before actual work on the film.[62] Scoring took place in April 2007 at the Sony Scoring Stage in Culver City. The score comprised six major themes over 90 minutes of score, including the teaser music. The instrumental soundtrack is said to be released sometime in August of 2007.[63] Tom DeSanto wanted to work in an orchestral version of the TV series song,[64] but he and Bay never spoke with each other much.[49] Mute Math performed a cover version instead. The band were childhood fans of Transformers, and were approached as their style suited the sound of the robots in the film. It only appears on the album.[65]

I don't see what Sony has to do with this, but to the fanpersons above who seem shocked at the idea that a label owned by a studio not involved in the production of the movie would release the score: go back to your scores and take a look at the variety of soundtracks (score and otherwise) released on record labels associated with rival movie studios.

Just one recent example: Sony had little or nothing to do with Fantastic Four 2, but they still released the score.

Well I know that, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that Sony has any involvement with this score. Also if you look at a lot of releases, if a soundtrack is released and then a score, they are on the same label a lot of the time. There's times when they're not, sure, but there's a lot of times when they are.

The whole point and why everyone is so pissed is because for a movie like the transformers we shouldn't have to wait for the score album to be released it should of been released on or before the movie came out. just like the peice of crap music inspired by the movie soundtrack. they would of sold alot of score CD's this way and now if it hits the net first they will not make as much.

You all seriously want this score enough to warrant a petition and a 101-post thread? There really is something in the water.

But seriously, Transformers is old news. Rescue Dawn is out and real filmmakers need a piece of the pie every once in a while. Michael Bay, a true artist he is not.

???? What the hell does rescue dawn have to do with the transformers score???
as for MIchael Bay not being a true artist..
thats why i went into the transformers a little reserved, because alot of his movies are crap the only good ones are the rock, the island, and transformers.

Back to the score........ where the hell is it already

Pretty sure it's been said a few times already that Sony has no plans to release the score, and a few people brought up the fact that it's possible Sony has nothing to do with the release... And Nuts, why are you positing in this thread if you don't like Michael Bay/Transformers? We understand you don't like him, but there's a few people here that do. I understand you like Rescue Dawn and I'll probably see it when it comes to video as I am anxious to see (hate watching serious movies in crowds, they tend to not pay attention), but this thread is about the score to Transformers, not about not liking Michael Bay or Transformers or whatever.

Sorry Clayton, I've just seemed to have an allergic reaction to Transformers amidst many of my friends and co-workers going gaga over it. As Jablonsky is a rising MV star, I might consider making this score a purchase (if it's to be released), but from what I heard in the film, I need more information as to why this score kicks so much ass. I'm hoping that good buddy Sean might provide a word on why I might like Jablonsky's Transformers score.

nuts, I'm back on the attack: O.K., I can understand why you don't like the movie Transformers and not to worry, I know why it's stupid and all that jazz. But, I had a good time at the movie theatre with this one; I'll probably never watch it again, but no matter it was a fun viewing. Now, the score is a different story: Yeah, it's filled with Zimmerisms like there's no tomorrow, but so are all of the scores attached to all of Michael Bay's movies: It's the sound he likes, and it's the sound he gets. It's a style I enjoy quite a bit myself. nuts, I know you told me once how good you thought Jablonsky's Island was score was/is, and it is: It's fantastic, fun, and bombastic, and damn do some parts ever sound like Zimmer's M:I-2 and Gladiator, yet it didn't bother you, and certainly doesn't bother me, it's still a solid score. Transformers is better: It's orchestral, the themes are grand and heroic, memorable and fun ... It'll be a really enjoyable listen when it gets released. It's certainly better than what Klaus Badelt did for Rescue Dawn (which I'm sure works just fine in the film), if you want to size up Steve Jablonsky to one of his peers at this moment in time (it's a good guage, I think). I think you not liking the movie probably has A LOT to do with you now being stoked about getting the score (any of my friends who didn't enjoy the film don't even remember the score, and those who did like it can't wait to get their hands on the music). If I'm really having a terrible time watching a movie, I tend to just sit back and pay attention to only the music, hopefully getting something out of that: From that POV, I think you'll find Transformers VERY rewarding given you musical tastes. I couldn't stand CutThroat Island, but at least I walked away from it having heard a pretty cool score that I wanted to get my hands on ... same can be with Transformers: Just listen to that awesome action music for the Scorpion Decepticon scene, it's killer!

Actually, I don't think you would like it. Some excerpts from it, maybe, but overall I'd be surprised if you did.

Put it this way: how did you feel about Speed 2, Twister, The Rock or Batman Begins?

Sean, I can't help but mention that your above comments are some of the finest comedic moments of your young life. And while I did find The Rock to be absolutely the "best score ever composed" and Batman Begins is one of the most "enchanting" scores since Doyle's The Little Princess (double by the way), I still think that Jablonsky's The Island is a very solid score. But from what I heard from the film, the new score is very Batman-heavy; which isn't a big positive in my book. And you're right, Badelt's score for Rescue Dawn is a little weak (though probably one of the best things he's written) but is serves its purpose well in the film (until the bombastic Hans Zimmer-esque finale cues, which almost ruined the experience for me).

Oh, and Cold War poetry really gets my tear ducts flowing.

Ok, fellow Transformers fanatics. This is on Michael Bay's official website forum; posted by his site admin:

[Guys, as far as I know, why would Sony have ownership of the TF 2007 score? IIRC they own the 86 movie soundtrack and score, but not this one. BTW, how many Paramount and/or Dreamwork movie scores have you seen that have been released by Sony? I will ask Bay again because he already indicated that the score will come out.

I am pretty optimistic. If The Island can get released, Transformers will get released. Besides, after seeing it for the 4th time, the score really must be released on CD. It has too many good cues!! There's a very nice, heroic cue when Optimus arrives in the city, transforms, and yells: "Megatron!" And another good one when Bumblebee turns the giant AllSpark into the small one.
