Hey, Marian, tell me if this sounds right:

Hallo, möchte ich zwei große Pizzas mit alles auf ihnen, einem kleinen Mercedes und einigen Büffelflügeln.

Wenn Geisteskrankheit wie das Springen waren, alle würden wir können zu fliegen.

Un po (?). Ho stud(i?)ato Italiano nella scuola, ma non ricordo molto.

    Let me correct your sentences:

Hallo, ich möchte zwei große Pizzas (though the correct Italian plural would be "Pizze", but most probably DO say "Pizzas" in German) mit allem darauf, einen kleinen Mercedes und einige Büffelflügel. (Buffalo wings? What's that??)

Wenn Springen eine Geisteskrankheit wäre ("If jumping was a mental disease", right?), we all could fly.

I knew about the pizzas thing. My Italian is (obviously) better than my German. I'm just impressed you could figure out what I was trying to say.

Buffalo wings are a kind of chicken-wing appetizer, served mostly in bars. I don't know if they're particular to Canada or if they're also found in the Excited States, but they're certainly unique to North America. We're the only ones comfortable with the idea of flying bison, I guess...

Actually, I was trying to say that if insanity were like jumping, we all could fly, meaning that we here at MM.com are a little less sane than most... to put it gently.

    quote:

NP: Die Piratenbraut / Corsari / Cutthroat Island (Johann/Giovanni/John Debney)

    nice selections.

Möglicherweise sollte ich Sprachen nur sprechen, in denen ich fließend bin...

That would limit me to English and Français, since my Italiano is only slightly better than my Deutsch.

Are they only called buffalo wings, or are they really made of buffalo? Sounds interesting!

    Ah! Makes more sense.

Wenn Verrückheit wie Springen wäre, könnten wir alle fliegen.

I got the Italian title from http://italian.imdb.com . This shows how stupid title translations are at times though. "Die Piratenbraut" means "The Pirate's Wife", and I guess "Corsari" means "Cruisers". The literal German translation of "Cutthroat Island" would be "Halsabschneiderinsel".

Aw, your German isn't that bad! The insanity sentence certainly isn't an easy one.

While we're talking about languages: I have that nagging suspicion that I get the "if clauses" wrong most of the time. We did them dozens of times in school, and they always were clear to me, but I still get them mixed up. Is "if clauses" just the term Austrian English teachers use, or do you know what I'm talking about?

No, they're only called that. The're chicken wings with a special sauce.

Buffalo Wings are quite common in the Excited States as well. Never got to try 'em before I went veggie.

Just found this funny list at TheOneRing.net:

    quote:
TheOneRing.net™ Top Ten Signs you are a Tolkien Fan:

    10. When you constantly call your loved ones "My Precious."

    9. You apply Rogaine to your feet to appear more 'Hobbitish.'

    8. You run off on a 6 month hike taking only crackers and rope, just for the hell of it.

    7. You throw your wedding ring in the fireplace so you can see the runes on it.

    6. You won't eat melon, because mellon means friend.

    5. You constantly refer to your father as "Me Ol' Gaffer."

    4. You claim the reason you are missing a finger is because Gollum bit it off.

    3. Instead of pepper spray, you pack a glass bottle and scream, "Aiya Ear‘ndil Elenion Ancalima!!!" at muggers.

    2. When your wife has a baby, you are overheard saying, "He really has Gandalf's nose."

    1. You legally change your name to Strider and hang around taverns pestering short people.

I've only listened to it once so far, but I really liked at least parts of it. Not as good as the absolutely amazing Canto General though, but I didn't expect it to be. Aside from that, I haven't heard any Theodorakis (well, except the famous Sirtaki, obviously), any recommendations?

Uh-oh. So far, we're still on-topic, because the two Canto's are not FILM music. Recommendations probably WOULD be film scores though, so they must not be posted here.

    You know about Sirtaki??WOW!
Recommendations:You know that Theodorakis composed the music for the film "Serpico"(Al Pacino)-quite empty though...it didn't work so well in the film;it is purely influenced by Greek music.
To tell you the truth i only know about his piano pieces.Quite exceptional pieces with beautiful Greek melodies.Otherwise,YOU know and I know that he is not a patch on Mozart!!

Centigrade. And for the sake of argument, we'll say it's a non-petrified Ostrich egg.
