    RE: For Frodo

I think it works great because it's so not action music. They're charging into this huge fight and the choir comes in sounding almost heavenly. The Fellowship is completing its task, selflessly.

    Hi again,

I just read that Howard Shore has won the 2007 Film & TV Music Award in the category of best score for a science fiction film for The Last Mimzy.

Congratulations to Mr. Shore. Other nominees were Clint Mansell for The Fountain, John Murphy for 28 Weeks Later and Sunshine, and John Tavener for Children Of Men.

More info can be found here.

Amazon.uk has changed the release date to 20th of Nov. and I am waiting for them to inform me that my order is yet again delayed.

-Mikko who is getting more than little impatient thanks to all the talk about "For Frodo" track which is amoung his favourites.-

Question for Doug: where is the soft choir piece that plays between "Dernhelm In Battle" and "A Far Green Country" in the film? It doesn't seem to be on the CR.
Or am I hearing ghostly whispers?

By the way, Kris-tshun, it's not easy for a humour-challenged person to live in Köln

If I remember correctly, they also had an extended delivery estimate for CR-FOTR which made me cancel my order and buy it in town. I don't know what the actual delivery date was for those who kept their order intact. I'm feeling pretty comfortable that Peter will get my copy as soon as he's able to. :-)

    Amazone.de :
    ---------------------------------
    Produktinformation

    Audio CD (6. November 2007)
    Anzahl Disks/Tonträger: 5
    Format: Import, Box-Set
    Label: Reprise / Wea
    ASIN: B000V6BE6M
    Durchschnittliche Kundenbewertung: (3)
Amazon.de Verkaufsrang: #10.818 in Musik (Die Bestseller Musik)
    ---------------------------------

1: with a rank of 10.818 i wonder if amazon.de has really a lot of orders for the ROTK CR in germany

2: the last years amazon.uk delayed of three weeks their UK release of the TTT-CR
(three weeks after the US release)

in fact i think (and i have already said it...) the selling of the CR by oversea seller-market is depending of the numbers of copy they expect to sell (because the import fees).

For me my purchase is in amazon.com since october debuting. i think a lot of europeans have done the same thing than me (1€=1.46$ now)

    hum....

few are as crazy as we are here for not to wait three weeks and paid the ROTK CR 48€/70$

    That's no surprise, is it?
It's expensive (it's cheaper to order the CR from the US, despite customs and taxes) and unreliable. And now its estimated CR-delivery date is january 2008 - that's the last straw. I know many people who'll cancel their amazon.DE-order and order it somewhere else...

Given that you can't find the CR on Amazon.de by searching for "Return of the king" or "Rückkehr des königs" or "Lord of the rings" or "Herr der ringe", it's no wonder the sales are low ...

Sorry for my lack of replies... I took a week off and now back to catch up.

The order status for your orders via the MM store says "packaging" but right now it's just printed receipts in cardboard boxes... shells waiting for the prized product to enter!

So, copies are not in hand just yet, although CDR promos (no DVD disc) have been sent out to various websites as you've already seen.

AAaaargh, trying to get back into the swing of things... I've gone from typing 2,432 words per minute to just 1,283!! Vacations cause damage!

I fear that the first batch of the ROTK-CR is sold out.... it's the only explanation for they say that the CR will be available only in january.....

when I am trying to purchase it at amazon.de (to see what's happen) it seems that's impossible...

    ---------------
    in US For europe

    Christian Kühn :

    About $55 (2/4 days) = 37 €
about $10 (up to three weeks, with insurance up to $400)
and $6 (up to 7 weeks without insurance)

    again....

    ----------

The ROTK CR is ranked #365 at Amazon.uk. maybe they will stand with their release.

Regarding the CR, amazon.DE *is* unreliable (I'm not talking about .com or other .de products!). Remember the mess with the TT-CR last year - and it seems to start all over again now with RotK.

Btw, I bought FotR and TT from amazon.com and that *was* cheaper (including customs and taxes) than buying it from amazon.de...

    @dambedir
I don't think it's sold out. It's an import-product on amazon.de and amazon.co.uk - and the amazon.uk release date is still November 20th, there is no problem with the availability of the CR...

    According www.howardshore.com

    November 5, 2007:
Renowned choral conductor Judith Clurman will lead the 168-voice Chorale from St. Albans and National Cathedral Schools in a concert to benefit the Chorale’s 2008 South Africa Tour in Washington National Cathedral at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16.

Featured repertoire for the concert will include the first performance of a commissioned work by fabled film composer Howard Shore, with text by Eleanor Roosevelt. Ms. Clurman will also conduct works by contemporary American composers Jennifer Higdon, Stephen Paulus and Marc Shaiman as well as Handel’s Coronation Anthem “The King Shall Rejoice.”

The November 16 concert in Washington National Cathedral will be Ms. Clurman’s first opportunity to conduct choral forces from St. Albans and National Cathedral Schools in live performance. The school orchestra and middle school choirs will also perform.

The concert is free and open to the public. An offering will be received to benefit the Chorale’s South Africa Tour.

Wow!! A new choral piece by Howard Shore, called "PEACE", awesome!

'Fabled' film composer?? Are they trying to tell us he might not exist after all? Surely some translation issue - they were looking for 'legendary', I bet.

Yes, the German release date is now January 8th, and that's set in stone, because there's no way anything will happen in the meantime and change things again...

If Amazon.de lists it as an import, they will only be able to get it as it's released in the US and/or UK. That date hasn't been changed again, has it? Wait until that date and see if Amazon.de re-lists RotK:CR. If not, cancel THEN and order it somewhere else.

In the meantime, stop yammering, for Christ's sake!

I'm sorry for my yammering. But I'm a little bit dissapointed about the behaivor of amazon.de. I think the raison for cancel my order isn't the delaying, because I ordered it to the price of EUR 10.92 How many peoples ordered also to this price??? When there are about 30 orders with this price...great difference to the other price?!

Not sure about any else, but my Amazon UK order still has a dispatch estimate of the 12th, despite stating on the item that the actual release has been pushed back to the 20th. I'm probably speaking too soon, but I would have thought they would have pushed back the orders as well by now.

Maybe those who pre-ordered it will still get it on the 13th? Or maybe not!

EDIT: Yep - its been put back to the 19th now.

Yes, I knew that. Asëa Aranion is even mentioned in LotR (the Book):

    RotK, The Last Debate:

    quote:
Thereupon the herb-master entered. 'Your lordship asked for kingsfoil, as the rustics name it', he said; 'or athelas in the noble tongue, or to those who know somewhat of the Valinorean...'
'I do so,' said Aragorn, 'and I care not whether you say now asëa aranion or kingsfoil, so long as you have some.'

From the looks of the photo on BarnesandNoble.com, the build of the box will be just like The Two Towers, with the leather bind on the side being bent instead of straight and easy to close like Fellowship was. So I guess we can finally put a close to that old topic....

Now Im just waiting for more interior photos of the physical form of the insides.
