All right, I've seen the film. The cue I liked online was whatever the first listenable cue was on the film's website, and beyond that, this is another blandfest from Beltrami. I really want to like his music, but I walked away from this movie thinking, "If he'd just do like, 2 movies a year, I'm sure he could have time to write something resembling a theme."Joan, I echo your sentiments exactly.

Atta boy, Shaun. With hindsight, I do think that this type of movie being so character-driven, probably would not support a big rousing score like Take a Hard Ride or The Big Country. Still, I did want a few memorable themes here and there.

Themes, themes, themes, themes, themes, THEMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Get off the high horse already about your blessed themes. Look, I appreciate the value of thematic material in films; but NOT ALL films require them. Melody is what a good composer contributes, and Beltrami does it in spades.

Okay, I'd be satisfied with a memorable MELODY!

Not talking specifically about 3:10 To Yuma here, nuts, but if you're doing an orchestral score you have better got a good theme ready, otherwise there's no point, regardless of melody. Theme-less scores are boring and usually undeserving of attention.

Yeah, if you want bland non-theme themes, why not hire Mark Isham for everything?

I haven't read this entire thread, so it may have already been mentioned, but aside from iTunes, is this score getting any other kind of release?

Even though I'll be buying this for collector purposes - and being I already have the iTunes release - is the disc going to offer any additional cues?

You ARE nuts. Why would they do that for a has been CD release? Extra tracks are for downloading, dude! But no, I don't really know yet. Just saw the listing, haven't contacted the studio's label for tracks....

Fantastic news! I really liked the score in the film, but just couldn't bring myself to buy something off itunes. Will definitely be getting this. Now if someone at New Line would just decide to release a CD of Love in the Time of Cholera…

I only bought the iTunes 3:10 because I thought it was going to be the only release available; had I known an actual CD was coming, I'd have waited. I'll be getting the disc because iTunes audio quality is atrocious and shameful, especially for the price they charge (it should be free at their standards).

Granted, yes, the CD will sound much better. But I certainly grabbed the iTunes version for the same reasons you mentioned Sean.Did you get my message from last night?
