How do you think the team up between Zimmer and Howard went? Do you think we will see more of this teaming up for scores? Thanks for your input.

I think it went well. Batman Begins is a very enjoyable score with some stellar tracks (2, 3, 7, 10, and 12). I don't think it's the score everyone wanted it to be, however, given that it's a Batman and there's a serious absence of a big heroic Batman theme ... something Hans Zimmer says he and James Newton Howard had written, but felt it didn't fit the film. (It's a damned shame 'cause I'd love to hear what that woulda' sounded like!) Plus, I believe they will team up again on another film, since Zimmer indicated that JNH was seeking out other projects where they could collaborate again.[Message edited by sean on 09-01-2005]

On first listen, I was a bit let down; but after viewing the film four times (including one viewing at Imax - amazing!) I found myself listening to it much more. It still lacks the action it deserves because I know the film I saw had quite a few action set pieces in it, but nonetheless it is still a stellar score. To be honest with you, I don't miss Elfman's score-meant-to-expand-upon-the-art-direction. I think that Zimmer and JNH delivered a Batman score that dealt more with the tragedy and heroism of such a dark and brooding character. And on enough listenings, the new theme - difficult to make out upon the first few listenings - is quite heroic no matter what those two old geezers (I kid . . .) thought up instead.

I thought the score was near perfect for this movie. But my question is... what's next? Will they return for the sequel? I sure hope so...Clayton

I never realized how many themes overlapped in the movie that don't overlap on the CD... Good track!

Sounds to me like a second disc is in order. However, how many Q's in fat chance? Warner Bros. isn't notorious for releasing more score music these days. But, hey, we got the Animatrix out of them, wonder if there's anyone we can inquire to over there.
