Gurrr...Whoever had the bright idea of doing this needs to be shot....oh wait, this means that same person who had Burwell's score to "Three Kings" only available on CD at MP3.com some years back got re-hired. What bastards.
But what is even funnier is that at this point (as far as I know) only Mac users have access to the Apple Music Store.

Its old news, but I think its still worth disscussing.
And to add to that. Varese will release the CD directly through thier website.
My question is, when will all this happen?[Message edited by TimT on 07-01-2003]

Ok well if they have it on their site are they not gonna ship to US customers? Because if you want to pay their lame shipping fee then you are set...--Brian

Fox would not promote a $25 soundtrack album as an Apple exclusive. They'd by shooting themselves in the foot. Who'd buy it?But, buy the whole album track-by-track and you're just mentally "challenged".

If I recall correctly, it's $.99 a track with a cap at $10.00. So you could download an entire CD for $10.00.James
I don't have a Mac myself. I heard this from a friend who does.

I just picked up a freebie magazine in my local cinema last night, and it includes an advance poster for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I refuse to abbreviate). At the bottom, in extremely small type) it says "Soundtrack available at the Apple Ituns Music Store".No mention of Varese Sarabande's CD release. On a UK poster.
I've a mind to contact the UK distributors (Fox).

There was an error on my post at Cinemusic that I haven't had a chance to correct, but since Brian brought it up here, I thought I'd reply. In my article I mentioned that a 25-track CD could cost $25, which is the error. Apple caps an entire album at around $10 as mentioned above.
This still doesn't make much sense to consumers because you've only got files on your hard drive for about half the cost of a store bought CD.

If that's the future, can somebody give me directions to the nearest bridge so I can jump off it?

So, you might wanna look into a really tall bridge if you wanna expel all that rage before hitting that final, blissful, wet sleep.
Even so, by the time this all transpires I expect you'll be too long in the tooth to care. You'll be too pre-occupied amusing your grandchildren with uncensored flattulence.

http://media.guardian.co.uk/newmedia/story/0,7496,954544,00.htmlUltimately, it depends on the ease with which Apple can negotiate copyright deals unique to the iTunes Music Store service with each individual country. For some it may be just a few months down the road, for others it might be a very long wait.

My only gripe with the standardization of the mp3 as the audio format of choice vis a vis iTunes, the iTunes Store and other mp3 players, is that the 'Artist' field in the ID tag runs counter to every normative filing system on the planet. OK, sure, AC-DC would be filed under 'A', but I wouldn't file Aaron Copland under 'A'. He would, of course, go under 'C'. The worst is if a band, song or album title begins with 'The'.It's simply apocryphal!
