Did you guys see at IMDB that Danny Elfman is scoring Terminator 3? I hope he does a good job on this one, I hope he makes a cool new version of the Terminator theme.

Someone made a ost about this one or 2 months ago. We all know and boy i can't wait.
But i hope he takes it seriously. Terminator isn't just some super hero movie, it is a serious film that calls for a serious score. Almost bought Spider-Man score today. What stoped me? 18$. Weren't cd prices supposed to go down last year? They look the same to me.
Also in the bin was a Varese release of a complete John Barry score. I have never heard a Barry score so i only laughed because of the store i was in. You never think to find big time releases in astore like this.

Dude, if you've never heard Barry, you've gotta pick up Dances with Wolves. Barry has a very distinct style/rhythm to much of his music and if you enjoy that score, you'll probably enjoy many of his others. I only own eight Barry scores myself, so I'm no way near a Barry expert, but I would recommend that you at least give him a try. John Barry's The Black Hole played a huge role in bringing me to my current obsession with film music, so the composer will always be important in my collection even if I don't (currently) own a whole lot of his music....and I'm still want to see Deadfall.

Ah, love the IMDb. First Loran Alan Davis' crap, and now this....
It's not unexpected of course.
But let's just hold ands and say it all together: until the movie is FILMED and DONE, chances are a composer hasn't been signed.

No, i'm sorry, i do have 3 Barry scores from trade.
The Black Hole
Howard the Duck
And
High Road to China complete (I think it was called.)
I just really listened to them cause i'm more a fan of other composers. Just today in trade i got my first Hermann score. Obsession complete. Sounds okay, but i have only heard 3 tracks. The main titles almost made me stop it and put the cd away.
I'll give that Dances with Wolves a try, or better yet, if anyone could put up clips of what they think best represents the score or lead me to a site that has samples that would be better.

Could that mean he might be involved? Hmmm....

Because he's freakin' crazy and there's no accounting for taste? Herrmann sounds "okay", right? Come on...

O.K. Brad is not what I would call a great composer, but I do like what he's done. But as far as Terminator goes...IT MUST BE BRAD FIEDEL
His music is perfect for the films. It just really fits and adds to the whole mechanical ideal of the film. I really don't think there's anyone more suited. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I agree with Sebulba. I'd love to hear Fiedel update his T2 synths for T3. His music was intergral to T2- look at all the parodies of the film seen in movies, tv, etc since- they all try to replicate Fiedel's unique mechanical sounds and synth drones. I can't say I enjoy Fiedel's music on CD, but for a Terminator film I'd definitely pick him before I'd pick Elfman- and I'm one of Danny's biggest fans.Tim
P.S. - Is it true that they've signed Goldsmith to score Terminator 4?

Brad Fiedel shoul hae stuck wih te termintor series, is bad enough that the whole cast and crew has been revamped now even the music is going to be done by another composer. If they were going tohire a cmposer to do terminator 3 why not James Horner? I mean just listen to hisscres for Aliens, and Star Trek II the Wrath of Kahn
