They say they will announce 3 new CDs on the 25th and will make them available soon after. What will they be? What will they cost? Will they limited to a certain number?

Varese said that you can preorder each club CD before Nov.1 when shipping starts and I'm sure they'll be around 20 bucks each. Just go to the Varese site and click the news section, they'll give you more info on that.

Regarding the price, Varese ships CDs to you via UPS, adding avout 7 unnecessary dollars to your CD purchase.

If it's still the same as when I ordered We're No Angels, then it'll be about 27 bucks.

roo damn much, but then again...you could pay eBay prices in a year or two.

Over at Filmus-L, Ford Thaxton suggested that the first 3 CD club titles might be Heartbeeps, Die Hard, and Predator. He did not claim to know for sure. We'll see how close he came on Thursday.

Oh God, I had forgotten about that.

I hope they figure out a better shipping solution (USPS.)

Really, people, whatever happened to the element of surprise? You'd think that some people haven't outgrown sneaking around the house in early December looking for where Mom and Dad hid the Christmas presents. And another thing, it's just speculation; I doubt that the first three titles would be that obvious.

I forgot about that... that's a HUGE possibility. Varese does afterall hold the rights to that one. They just haven't ever done anything with 'em.

I agree, Rang. The themes in that are a blast.

It's too bad Morris doesn't show up much anymore. The last I heard of him was his work for the two Gene Wilder mystery movies for A&E. Pretty good stuff.

Mark, don't have a massive heart attack, we need you. Seeing that Varese does own the rights to YSH, that would be nice, if the fact that it's on a boot doesn't scare them off...

    Guys,

The only problem about Varese CD Club is:
I'VE NEVER SEEN THEY RELEASE A COMPLETE SCORE!!

Too bad if they keep this policy.

Noticed on the back cover image of one of the CD's in the club the legend:

    "Limited Edition ___________ of 1500."

In other words, better snap these babies up if you want one. This is half the usual print run of FSM or Prometheus limited releases.

    Haha - funny.

My guy at Varese tells me it will be a limited run, but doesn't know exactly HOW MANY in each run.

I guess we'll just have to wait until tomorrow!

Lancelot...spending too much time on academia....I haven't read any fiction for years. However, last books I read for relaxation were Fred Karlin's 'Listening to Movies'....an absolute delight. Shipping from US was a killer but so worth it.

    And 'Knowing the Score'...

    What about you?

Recently, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, Terry Jones's Starship Titanic (considerably more hilarious than The Crucible, and re-read Neil Gaiman's Stardust.....

I have read David Bell's Getting the Best Score for your Film, which I recommend, and Jeff Rona's The Reel World...there's also a book out there by a gent who's name escapes me at the moment...The Score, which is interviews--you've probably already read it....but keep moving your eyes across the page...I'm sure it helps, somewhat...
