I had not listened to them side by side. But now that I do (Thanks for the clip) I find them still very different.
Only the beginning is similar. Then Horner's moves on to something completely different.
This type of similarity is not what I'd call rip-off. Especially considering how easy it really is to come up with such a circular type of motif. Horner has been using similar motifs before. Though none of them resembled Schindler so much. But resemblance is not plagiarism.
Sorry, I'm still not convinced it's the same theme.

    "But resemblance is not plagiarism."

Fair enough. But do you think he came up with it on his own?

it doesn't a musical genius to notice the similarity between the Schindler theme and this "love theme." The girl in the movie is Jewish, so on that level it's appropriate, but I'm sure the Jewish culture has had more musical heritage than List.

heck, even a lyrical spin-off of the traditional "hava nagila" would've been nice, if he had to make it obvious he was playing to her Jewish ancestry.

    :-)

Mark, all you have to do is target your nuclear weapons at Miami. That'd pretty much take care of it. I'll do the same... seeing as how all Texans have missle silos in their backyards.

Miami? Ha ha ha ha, I'm not in Miami! I'm about half an hour to the north of there, quite near the intersections of Federal and Dixie Highways! Bomb Miami away, you cowpunching saps! I'll never miss it! You'll NEVER find me THERE when I'm roughly at the intersections of Federal and Dixie! Hahahahahahahahahaaaa! Not in Miami at all! You will NEVER get me in Miami when I live, as I've indicated, so close to the intersections of Federal and Dixie Highways, which are NOT in Miami! I will be SAFE! Hahahahahaahaaaa!

triumphantly signed, safe near the intersections of Federal and Dixie Highways, well comfortably north of Miami, H.

    p.s. ... wait a minute

Mark, be sure and use those 100-mile radius nukes you can get at the grocery store... and adjust the targetting system to launch multiple projectiles near the intersections of Federal and Dixie Highways, roughly a half an hour north of Miami. That should take care of it.

Rocco, you are one crazy fool. Gotta love ya... oh, and remember:

    Duck and cover!
