I don't like talking politics with anyone. I rather not know most other people's political opinions. It clouds your view about who they are. Hasn't anyone heard the old american saying "Don't talk religion, poltics or tug on Superman's cape"?

Why not just start a thread "Classical Music" and start talking about it there?

I'm going to go hide now before I make everybody even more peed-off at me.

Yes, a "classical" forum would be great!

because in a classical we can start various threads about various composers. We won't have one thread wandering about all over the place like the last classical thread.

and hey, I certainly want to talk about classical composers like Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, and Dmitri Shostakovich who all composed film scores, as well as powerhouse concert works.

and you never know, we may get someone hooked on classical music.

I wonder if PeterK would allow for short mp3s of classical works, like the CDs that are reviewed.

I think it is great that we can get to know each other better. Chances are that most of us will never meet face to face. I think if this board was nothing but conversation on film scores, I would probably lose interest after awhile. I agree with PeterK, some of the other boards have become annoying and I really don't visit them that much.

    My irrelevant take:

    - "Real World" forum - Good in concept, tough to execute

    - Classical forum - I would really enjoy said forum and hence think it is a good idea

    - "Classical" or "Orchestral/symphonic, etc." - I think calling it 'classical' may be slightly misleading, but as long as people know what it means when they post, I don't see it as a big issue

    - Rap - Yes, a lot of it is garbled muttering. No, very little of it does actually qualify (IMHO) as music.

    - Political Chatter - I'm not American, but I'll gladly argue with anyone about Canadian politics--just not here. This is where I come to talk about music, not to get all riled up.
