Marian the Hyperspace cue has always been tracked on that scene even in the original version before the special edition. The cue they used in Jedi is taken from Losing a Hand on the boxed set (or Rescue from Cloud City on the 2 disc set). That too was already on the original film during Lando's run from the Death Star. Or maybe you were upset at it being used from the start?

I think Marian was refering only to how the music scored for one sequence would show up in another, unrelated sequence, in response to my comment about how the re-tracking in Empire included almost every appearance of the Imperial March.

I have no insight whatsoever into the score business, but I wouldn't be surprised (but very glad, of course ) if Michael Matessino or Laurenz Bozerau would do a complete Indy trilogy in the near future.

An expansion of Temple of Doom would be nice... I love the music just for the plane crash (occuring right before the cue "Slalom on Mt. Humol" on the album) and as Indy steals the Sankara stones...

Actually, an expansion of Last Crusade would be very nice as well. It is less neccesary than Temple of Doom, as the album itself is longer, but it would be nice.

What is everybody looking forward to the most on the new Phantom Menace album? I'm going to be ecstatic about the following:

    • Arrival at Naboo
      For real this time.
    • It's Working
    • Anakin Leaves Home

Obviously there are other cues that I found interesting in the film, but these are the ones I find myself looking forward to the most...

It's been some time since I've seen the movie, but I really liked these:

    • The powerful variation of the Force theme right before Anakin destroys that space ship
    • A piece that's played over a shot of some people leaving the Naboo palace over the stairs. I know that sounds strange, but that's all I can remember right now. I think that's the typical type of score cue Williams likes to drop from his albums.

Marian, if you're refering to the little bouncy cue heard right before the Jedi rescue the Queen and her retinue, then I'm right there with you.

    I want it all!!!!!!!

Actually the whole rescue of the queen sequence, freeing the pilots and escaping from Naboo.

    Dual in the desert.

The Jedi Battle on board the Trade Federation ship.

When Anakin says goodbye (man I get emotional when I see that scene and hear the music)

these are some that stand out

That could be the one I meant. 'Bouncy' fits, I think, it has a wonderful passage with pizzicato. But it's been months since I played the mp3, so I'll have to wait for the CD until I really remember the music.

I'd be irritated about this issue, too, if I'd already spent money on the single disc. But I saw something like this coming, and thus didn't take the plunge. Patience sometimes has its rewards. Although I STILL will not buy the disc until I see others weighing in on its virtues (or lack of such). At least I didn't jump the gun and buy one of the overpriced boots.

NP: INCHON (Jerry somebody) (John Williams was the first composer signed for INCHON, but as the production dragged on, Williams, as Goldsmith said in 1981, "got smart: he got out of it. The picture still isn't finished.")

Well, I'm glad it's being released, but it is another example of the fleecing of us, the noble film score enthusiasts of the world. On to more recent developments in this thread, on the complete score, I must admit that, though I'll probably buy it, I'm going to be waiting to hear just how special this special edition is. We've been fooled before, as in the 4-Disc 1995 release of the Trilogy. Also, I feel that Star Wars I's music is really more often like watered down Indy III music, or often pointless ramblings which never go any better. We get the Emperor's theme, but never as powerful as in Jedi. We get the Force Theme, but we've heard if millions of times before, and so much more effectively in the original Trilogy. After all, how much can you do with a single theme?! Duel of the Fates if nice, but not as good as many other cues IMHO, such as Arthur's Farewell in Goldsmith's First Knight, or Movement I in Vangelis's Mask, or even the classical genesis of it all, Carmina Burana. And then Aniken's theme is a nice morph of the Imperial March, but then there just aren't enough other developments to aid it in making the score truly good. Phantom is a nice B score to a nice B movie that happened to have great effects. As I said, I'll probably get the complete score (if it really IS complete) to complete my collection, and there are cues I might listen to from time to time, but why listen to the Droid Theme when we have Belly of the Steel Beast in Indy III, why listen to the Space Battle when we have Schertzo for Motercycle. . ., and why listen to the traditional Star Wars music when we have. . . EMPIRE! Sorry for this. It's all my humble opinion, you know. And I hold out high hopes for Episode II. Perhaps Episode I was just Williams warming up for us.

The Return of the Jedi Special edition release does not have all the complete score to that movie. It has the complete score to the special edition version of the movie but that is all. Two tracks from the original Return of the Jedu are missing. One is "Lapti Nek" which is a song heard in Jabbas palace that was cut in the special edition to make way for that crappy dance song that Williams didn't even write. The other track cut was "Ewok Celebration". At least this was replaced with a godd orcestral track to go over the extended end celebration sequence. I think these both should have been added and been explained in the liner notes. Thie really should have been done since there was music from a seen where Vader makes contact with Luke, and that seen was cut from the original and special edition version of Jedi.
