I don't mind the one Indy came in, its got a tray. So does Pirates 3 and the New Narnia score.

Where as the Lost World and Wall E, their CDs go in a sleeve which over time will damage the disc, those suck.

I mean really, these days my CDs sit on a shelf and don't move. They get ripped at full quality to my computer and I wanna listen to one in my car, I just make a CD-R. Originals for the most part stay put and safe

Ugh. But I guess it saves them money, and the RAIDERS price is very very reasonable. Still, I'd rather see a jewel case...but its not that big of a deal...at least it shouldn't be....

They'll all be the same, so at least it looks fine on a shelf

Temple of Doom and expanded Last Crusade is what's important

Also, the wasn't the import of Crystal Skull a jewel case, maybe snag the imports of you REALLY want jewel cases.

Well, I'll certainly take digipack over nothing, but digipacks stink. Hoepfully they still can have extensive booklets?

I am shocked that nobody else has broke this news, BTW. Kudos to Peter, hopefully he's been getting a helluva lot of pre-orders on the Raiders....unless people are waiting for the box...like us.

I thought about it, but I decided against it and just wait for the box.

Well I guess with them being contained in a box style set it wouldn't be so bad. After all every time I get a CD I rip it to my hard drive as lossless and back in its case it goes and stays there unless I have to rip it again.

Hell no. I'm glad I haven't paid the butt load for previous three scores that they are going for on evilbay.

HHHHWWHHHAAAAATTTTT!!!??? :P My jaw just hit the floor. Anyway, the Indiana Jones films and scores are almost without exception the main reason I got into scores in the first place. I paid very little for all my Indy scores, including Temple Of Doom, which was painful to track down way back in grade 6.

I'm not much of a Williams fan. There's only a handful of scores from him I like. I like works from other composers but over all I've always been more fond of Goldsmith's works.

I should answer the question posed by this thread, since I haven't yet:

Not The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

And if you think either the film or the score is good or -- Heaven forbid -- great, than I'm sorry but you've simply lost your marbles.

No offense, Trent, but............ this from the person who bashes G.K. for posting in Zimmer threads?

As to the topic at hand, I'm probably the single film music fan in the world that has no interest in this. Being a heavy Williams fan, I bought the "Last Crusade" score years ago (not exactly sure why I picked that particular one), and to this day don't really like it. I've seen the first film a couple times and didn't hear anything there either that I'd be particularly interested in owning. I'm pretty much exclusively a dramatic Williams fan (Schindler, A.I., Munich, etc.).

Another 100 bucks or so I can not spend on CDs.

Sean: Andrew, is that a gram!?

Andrew: New card. What do you think?

    Sean: Nice.

Andrew: That's bone, and the lettering is something called Cillian Brail.

    Jeron: That's nothing, guys.

Sean: Wow. Where'd you get The Dark Knight score from?

    Jeron: Just lucky, I guess.

Oooooook. My first thought was: Sean is suffering a mental breakdown from my admittance of previously said heresies, and has fallen to incoherent babblings. Then, something rang a bell, and the bell said "American Psycho". Sure enough, I Google some of those lines and I was right (I think I saw that boardroom scene or whatever a long time ago somewhere, though I haven't seen the movie itself).

But still, I'm completely lost on what you could possibly be trying to say, Sean.

Honestly, the only Indy score I remember (aside from the themes) is the 3rd film. Probably because I thought that movie was the most fun. But I'll be picking this box set up anyway as I don't own that one and I think everyone should probably own these. I mean, they're classics.

But! I am with you on John Williams' dramatic stuff. Episode III really had some pretty good dramatic stuff. I loved his dramatic/sadder music for Hook, and Schindler's List is aweso---... wait... I am not sure that's something anyone should say actually... Oh well... I also loved his score to Munich and Memoirs of a Geisha (they were robbed at the Oscars... ROBBED!!!).

Uhhh... Well, I'm at the polar opposite end here. I don't find Munich all that interesting other than the guitar rendition of the main theme and the end credits, other than that, though, it just sits on my shelf; same for Memoirs Of A Geisha, the main theme is nice, too, but other than the training music and the end credits, once more, there isn't anything else to go back to with that score. The only Oscar that Williams was "robbed" of, since I think these awards (all awards maybe) are an absolute joke, was for The Empire Strikes Back (my favourite score by him). From my perspective, Michael, you like what I think are his boring and meandering efforts (I do own them all)--I'm sure they're well composed blah blah blah, but they've only ever really garnered a few listens at best and then they collect dust--while I mostly prefer his adventurous sound (he's a lot stronger, dramatically, in these movies than he is in a straight forward "serious" movie, IMO). Michael, I don't think you really "qualify" as a "heavy Williams fan" if you actually don't really own his music, and in this case his better music.

Well, I'm somewhat ashamed to say I own slightly more Williams than I do Shostakovich (and that's saying something), so I do "really own his music," but I generally stay away from the action/adventure/whimsical Williams. As I've said before... it's not my thing.

As for this style being "better," it may be true that his music generally works better in the adventure films I guess, but let's not get into the extraordinarily subjective "better" discussion now.

I don't really think TESB deserved an additional Academy Award. Empire is like "Star Wars plus", and Star Wars already got the award.
Of course Empire is the slightly better score, but the Academy couldn't possibly foresee that.
