    Jeron --
Swashbuckler is talking about the Aspect Ratio, or presentation, of the film itself. The ratio is one of width-to-height and indicates the framing of the film. The "TV show" starts with a smallish, intimate framing; by the end (in space), we are in glorious widescreen framing!

Thanks, Swash -- I had thought I was the only one that noticed. Like the score itself (which I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED!!!), the framing was carefully chosen to lead us from drudgery to glory. Good eyes on that!

    NP: THE LAST STARFIGHTER 4.5/5*

Don't confuse collectors with speculators. Collectors go to a great deal of effort to complete and enjoy their collection. They are interested in the score and the CD and are usually quite helpful to their fellows. (As some of you have been to me) They are ultimately the victims of scams like the ones you condemn.

It is speculators who come into a collectible market and drive the prices beyond the ability of the average fan to afford and then dump when the market sags. I have seen them ruin many markets comics, baseball cards, books, etc. They should all burn in hell.

Well I finally went and saw the film today, which I loved BTW. However an little package was waiting for me when I got home. Well two packages to be honest, they included both Galaxy Quest and John Williams' Dracula.

It was an great week so far. I can't wait until Monday, to see what arrives then.

Anyone have suggestions as to which David Newman score to get next?

THE PHANTOM is very good (score AND movie). In fact, hints of that score can be heard during "The Battle" track in GALAXY QUEST.

Sean, apparently "The Phantom" is getting extremely hard to find. I wish I would have gotten it when I used to see it all the time @ the store... ah well, we'll see what I can come up with. Hopefully you and I can still find it.

I sure hope we can find it as well. Actually Ebay has an copy of it right this moment. Unfortunately I rarely use their auction service anymore.

Well, my brother surprised with a copy of this. It is awesome! I cannot believe they didn't commercially release it!

Well, now that the DVD is out, I have to say that I am annoyed with one aspect of the otherwise georgeous transfer.

Except for the television sequence, which is properly shown centered in the screen, the L.A. portions of the film are presented in 2.35:1, which was most decidedly NOT how I saw it in the theater.

I guess this was done to keep people from getting confused when watching the film, and I haven't noticed any problem, really, with the framing. I can only guess that the film was shot in Super 35 with coverage for both ratios with the L.A. sequences sideboxed for theatrical prints.

Otherwise, did anyone watch the deleted scenes? Some of them, especially "Alex's Quarters," are downright hilarious. I can't imagine why that sequence in particular was cut.
