I have been here since August (I think) and I am terribly grateful for this site and many of us have thanked PeterK for this and I thank him again.

Yet something bothers me now. I have a bad feeling and am just going to express it. These posts about the former FSM gang taking over etc are becoming extremly bothersome; at least to me.

I don't care where someone came from when they come to this board. I just love film music and the possibility to talk about it. Yes, we get off topics at times (I'm the worst offender) but we all have a deep respect for each other which apparently some people would like to destroy. Now, PeterK. says he will monitor this and make sure what happened over there won't happen here. But should he have to? Who are we? Kids? Do we need a internet daddy to respect each other to communicate like human beings? If someone wants to turn this into another rated XXX thing, fine. I would be very dissapointed. But you know what, don't expect me to joyn, cause that ain't me and will never be me because I have a responsability to someone I would never want to dissapoint and who I love more than life itself (at least this life). So yes, I can't stop you but PeterK can I gather, but he shouldn't have to. He shouldn't have to lay awake at home wondering what will happen next to a site he created. I have tremendous respect for him and PeterK if I have said something here that offended you or if I weent overboard just right now I apologize, but this is simply disgusting, and I feel very badly about this.

I feel so badly in fact that I can't stay on this computer and read all the other posts.

    May God bless you all

    Scott

Scott, your concern is valid. However, most of us FSM "refugees" tried this board out because we were seeking a release from the temporary insanity that gripped the FSM board. Actually, things over there are pretty much back to normal (with the exception of a few naysayers.) I for one like what I see here, and intend to approach posting here with the same level of friendly fun and intelligent discourse I tried to promote at FSM. I'm not here because I'm looking for a party to crash. I'm here because I love film music, and am always interested in broadening my horizons.

Well, the whole FSM board getting a bad reputation is kind of weird, because it didn't seem like a bunch of lowlife scumbags to me. It was just the one or two people who were causing it all. The rest of us are fine! I feel like we're being discriminated against because we HAPPEN to be black!

Well spoken. That's why we should now finally end all this segragation. The "refugee" analogy may have been funny, there was probably some excitement when all of a sudden so many newcomers showed up, but let's not beat it to death (that ruins pretty much any joke). And I don't think anyone wants to "take over" anything. We're just here to chat about film music, perhaps join occasionally in off topic chatter, and while I'm glad to see some people around that I've come to know and respect for some time, I'm just as glad to meet new folks out there and stick in my two cent once in a while.

And now back to our regular scheduled program.

    Matt,

People haven't decamped because of a vast mood shift at that board; it's because the board's been inefficient ever since the year turned. We should be grateful that Y2K had so LITTLE such fallout.

I don't know anyone who's expressly LEFT the FSM board -- one or two have been BANNED, but that's a separate issue ...

The FSM board is still working in its own way, which is to say inefficiently, but it's still up, and I still go there and post. As I hope to continue doing here. It's very NICE having more than one place to go and talk about this stuff. Doubles your chances on a Saturday night, as they used to say ...

NP: THE MUMMY (which I love, but I really MUST get some more CDs down here now that I've discovered that on the iMac I can play CDs and surf at the same time).

Scott, your post raises some great concerns. No, I admit, I don't want to have to fear that something may go wrong here. Actually, I really don't, but in the event that anything bad does happen here, I have the capability to clean it up. Since I visit here often, why not look at it that way? There is trusting, and then there's reality.

Matt, as for all the trouble you are hearing about from those FSM boards, it's not as simple as Goldsmith bashing. It basically boils down to people who can't agree to disagree. Instead they go way off the other end, posting nasty personal attacks after personal attacks in a rather disturbing, profane manner.

This I will not tolerate here. I will never remove posts that I don't agree with. I will always remove posts that are mean-spirited.

    Have a great weekend!

I must add some more here! I just visited FSM message boards once again and see another anti-MovieMusic.com thread once again (cleverly disguised as a pro-MovieMusic.com thread).

I don't particularly like to label people, but Luscious Lazlo embraces quite a bit of hypocrisy. Here's what he said on these boards just 3 days ago:

"I'd like to apologize to everyone in the world for insulting you fine people. I was only here briefly and all I could see was the obligatory crap about Star Wars. However, now that I've rummaged thru some of your old posts, I realize that a lot of you guys possess deep & profound souls." http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/001145.html

Today at the FSM board, here's what he says:

"(explitives deleted)... This place beats the pants off the moviemusic board. What the hell kind of mentality motivates those moviemusic posters to be constantly making long lists of records that they've heard? Is that their idea of informed commentary? Am I supposed to be impressed with their pride of ownership or the breadth of their listening? Some breadth. I have so much to learn from posters with such original nicknames as "Dr. Evil" & "Sebulba". http://209.153.226.49/messageboard_html/Forum1/HTML/003400.html

So, you see what I mean? We have given a very warm welcome to anyone who shows up here, whether they come from Mars or FSM. Yet, in my experience, to a lot of FSM participants, it doesn't matter. Many of them simply thrive on potty-mouthed and insensitive behavior. Once again, these are not my allegations. just see for yourself.

I would like peace and civility here, not a bunch of Cybils and nay-sayers. Let's keep it this way... everyone's invited!

    Back to the moviemusic discussion!

    PeterK.

Perhaps you could define ‘mean-spirited’. Was my post, that has now been locked,‘mean-spirited’?

Granted, it has nothing to do with film music. But, the very thread you directed me to, ‘I have to say this….’, by Scott, and the thread, ‘Jeron’s FSM Assessment’, aswell as several other live threads, have little to do with film music either. Will those threads be AMPUTATED also?

My main point here is that most of these threads make some rather disparaging comments about me, and what I have written. Unfortunately, a couple of my threads from the FSM board have been seized upon, threads though admittedly controversial, they do not equate to personal attack upon composer or board visitor. I have been the victim of many personal attacks myself, for voicing my mind, but I have never complained about that. Occasionally, I may issue forth a strong rebuttal, but usually what I say is well intentioned. Indeed, these particular threads of mine (transferred from the FSM board) represent the culmination of several months worth of postings, thus, in isolation, they may SEEM rather harsh.

I am in total agreement with Peter. I too went to the FSM board and read the derogatory "posts". I was shocked! Well enough about FSM... If you want to talk about FSM, heck go to FSM and talk about it! If you are here, I think the name of the site pretty much explains what we are supposed to talk about, "MOVIEMUSIC." We are a bunch of guys and gals that love this stuff! If someone wants to be negative, Peter is on the ball!

I don't see much diference beteween the two boards, except that this are faster and look niciest.

FSM board was always a nice place to visit, but since the appearence of that Daniel2 guy it became a mess and, yes, several guys left it because of him (I know 3 of them who did).

But it's always nice to visit both places.

    Thanks and don't worry.

    Life is beautiful.
