Hey, guess what I found at FilmScoreMonthly. They were talking about us! The following message was posted by a Luscious Lazlo and it reads:

Somebody mentioned the discussion board at <moviemusic.com>. So I checked it out. The posters there seem to be a bunch of shallow airheads. They're musically-illiterate showbiz fans, for the most part. They're not heavy-duty musicologists like us.What do you guys think about that?

Hey, I like what we have here on this site. The message boards are very good-looking, and the people who post here are great as well. We all respond professionally and respect others' opinions regardless of their tastes. We have a great thing going on here. Let's keep people talking about us!

I've learned from the past years on the internet and Usenet that the people who inhabit most newsgroups and message boards (not us, of course) are just whiny little kids who try to impress people with big words. This is especially true on r.m.m., where if they can't backstab or call names, they don't post anything. I don't know how many of you frequented r.m.m. in the past, but it was (and still is, to a point) rife with know-it-alls who are jealous of the people doint the real thing.
It used to be what whenever Ford Thaxton or Lukas Kendall posted an announcement about something, all the other "kids" could do is berate them with viscious, personal attacks. This, IMO, is mainly due to jealousy on their part. They can't do these great things, so they have to "bring down" the people that do.
Maybe I am "musically illiterate." I never said I was a prodigy. I am here because I enjoy the music. But I bet I can run rings around any of them when it comes to science and photography. Let the kids play. As long as they stay out of here.
Thankfully we don't have that here. We all know we're above that stuff.

Well folks, a big "Hello!" from one of the FSM Message Board Irregulars.
I'd like to apologize for the remarks above, made by one "Luscious Lazlo".
"Luscious" has been known to be a troublemaker now and then, and on at least one occasion had to have a post edited by the message board authorities because of its vile nature.
He certainly does not represent the overall tone of the FSM message board, and neither do Dan Brecher's comments above.
I must compliment you on a beautiful website, and I'll drop in from time to time to see what's happening here.posted 01-15-2000 06:06 PM PT (US) Scott

It's probably an inside FSM joke, but I have to admit: Daniel2's post was the funniest thing I have read this year on the net. Unbelievable how much humor you can pack into three letters and a quotation mark. Thanks for a big laugh.*1Anyway, as a FSM regular, as a regular rec.music.movies poster, AND as somebody who has been lurking here for I while, I think the majority of posters in all of these forums (oh-my-gosh-this-sounds-pc-but-I-can't-help-it!) are interested in film scores and capable of reasonable discussions. Some weirdos pop up from time to time wherever you go; there are worse things in life. In any case, I have been posting regularly at FSM and at rec.music.movies and occasionally at Filmtracks, and I intend to do the same here. But I come in piece, and not as a party crasher, and certainly not to have a "our-board-is-better-than-your-board-war". This here is a fun place to be, that's all I have to say about this.
*1 Interesting to note that this was by far the shortest post of Daniel2 I have ever seen.posted 01-16-2000 02:43 PM PT (US) H Rocco

Christopher: Mr. 2 made a surprise appearance in the "which is better, NIMH or LEGEND" thread, wherein the poster (RKNAUS, I think) was saying NIMH was the better score. Our friend the dustman promptly replied with the amazingly terse, yet thoroughly succinct, "Yes" (i.e. he thought NIMH was better also). He made a second posting (place already forgotten and thread probably already lost) wishing yourself, WRM, myself and someone else -- Dan Hobgood probably -- a belated Happy New Year.
And he seems to be here as well. This should be exciting ...

Wherever you go...uh ...there you are???(Oops, got lost there for a minute.) Seriously, it's good to talk to people about film scores wherever I'm at (and other off topic items as well). I'm just glad that there is another place to talk about filmscores. My experiences talking about film scores with the above mentioned people over at FSM have been a good, and I believe it will be with the people on this new board.

Hey, there are a lot of familiar names from FilmScoreMonthly's discussion board, welcome you guys, maybe you don't know me but I go everyday to FSM's board to see what's goin' on, I don't post very often there because I can't remember my password, I have to open my e-mail to see it. This is the place where I regularly post messages. Then in second place come the messageboard at John Williams.com at: www.johnwilliams.com-us.com/

I don't see much difference between this and FSM board. But I must say this looks better and it's much more faster.
I am sure people fight here just as they (we) do there...And now that our nasty friend DANIEL2, the Goldsmith-hater, poped in I can say: more things change, more they look the same...

I'd like to apologize to everyone in the world for insulting you fine people. I was only here briefly and all I could see was the obligatory crap about Star Wars. However, now that I've rummaged thru some of your old posts, I realize that a lot of you guys possess deep & profound souls.Hector neglected to mention that I praised this board's format. It's far preferable to the narrow-formatted piece-of-crap board over at filmscoremonthly. (Please take that personally, Sheriff Joe.)
As for YOU, Chris Kinsinger. We all know what YOU are: a congenital apple-polisher. A shameless toady who ingratiates himself with authority-figures by attacking his fellow underlings. I got you sussed, Chris. So watch it, bub. A word to the wise-guy.
To Hector and everyone else: Please find it in your hearts to forgive my rash misjudgment. Thanx a bunch and God bless.
