This is a very cool Message Board!
I just found out about it from one of my friends over at FSM, where I have been a regular since it first opened.
How long have you folks been here?
And what does "NP" mean?
(I keep seeing posts with NP at the bottom of the message).
Anyway, greetings all!

Chris, welcome aboard. I look forward to your participation here at MovieMusic.com.As for your questions, this message board has been around since mid April 1998. NP? It's short for "Now Playing." Use it to let everyone know what's now playing in your CD player. Pretty simple - one of the many unique things you will find here that distinguish this community from the many cookie cutters out there.
Once again, welcome. This goes for all of you new people!

Hello again Chris.Just a little more background. Most of us have been with Peter for longer than just mid April. We were all at another message board which had an unpleasantness around the first of last year.
Peter set up his own board and we followed. I've been lurking mostly until "Mystery Alaska" came out without a soundtrack. I decided I needed to ge more involved. SO instead of just reading, I'm posting, too.
BTW, I've ben looking at some of the discussions over there at FSM and I'm looking forward to some fresh topics.
The threads on "Zulu" and "Omega Man" were very interesting. I had nearly forgotten that "Omega Man" is one of the few scores that I love that I don't have.

Marc, "The Omega Man" is a score that I am absolutely split on.
I LOVE to listen to it (every time AMC shows the movie, I'm there!), but in many of the scenes it causes the film to be unintentionally hilarious!
There's Heston in the final shot, dying in a pool of his own blood, and the music is doing a "Let's All Dance!" Samba thang that totally ruins the mood of the film.
However, if it's ever issued on CD, I'll be in line to get it.NP: "Bicentennial Man"

LOLYeah, it's kind of hokey in places, but hey, it was the 70s.
The melody (love theme) has been running through my mind all day with occassional spurts of the conflict theme (including the defenestration scene).
What I would prefer is some Eastern European Orchestra to re-record the whole thing with a more modern touch.
I hope this isn't sacrilege, but I really do think he score could use updating.

Marc, I'll bet we agree that the very best thing about "The Omega Man" score is that haunting main theme, and its variations.
There's quite a lot of early 70's garbage in there that no amount of re-arranging will help.
Scorro. . .have we met?
You certainly have me at a disadvantage, what with knowing so much about me and all.
But you are just slightly incorrect about the cheese balls.
LogieD and the late Guy McKone were the cheese ball lovers.
I always brought the coconut shrimp to the party!
Not to mention the hot crab dip.

Scarro! Either that's a funny typo or a well placed dig! Not a problem... , though typos aren't your style.
I'm mainly a 'lurker' over at FSM; throw in a tidbit here and there (under different name) but mainly follow along.
Whatever you bring to the party, I'm sure it will be good.

Dear Scorro (aka "vulcantouch" at FSM!), it's so good to be with you again, ol' pal!
I corrected my spelling error (as always).Dear Scott,
I truly detest internet abbreviations like "LOL" for the very reason that so many people have no idea what they mean!
I never use them.
I find them eletist and offensive.
"LOL" stands for "Laughing Out Loud".That was silly, wasn't it?

Regarding internet abbreviations:Chris, I feel the same way about trivia contests, but that's just my opinion.
It's taken me a year to learn all the abbreviations I have learned, some still stump me. What I know is that they are a lot quicker than typing the same thing off on the keyboard.
With that in mind I'll stop using LOL and BTW (by the way). The only two internet abbreviations I've used on the board so far.

Thanks for the nice welcome. Chris and Shaun of course I know from the FSM board, and really the only reason I have not posted anything here before is simply that I am already posting (or sticking in my 2 cents, depending on your point of view) at enough places... it's getting harder to keep track of everything, especially if you also want to get some work done. But I'll be back for sure.NP: Miklos Rozsa "Ivanhoe" (Intrada)

Greetings to all, too! Like Chris, I am a regular at (or perhaps a refugee from) the FSM board. I've also been on the R.M.M. usenet list and the Filmus-L listserv. However, a hectic life requires one to choose their venue carefully, and message boards keep life simple without weeding out the old mailbox all the time (which must be generally reserved to professional uses). I see a lot of usernames that that I don't recognize from the FSM board, but some of you may be operating under alternate nom de plumes.Anyway, good to be part of your gathering.

Hello, everyone!
Just a brief note from yet another FSM board refugee. Someone there let us all in on the fact that you had a good thing going on....and like the party crasher that I never wanted to be, here I am. I have been scanning for an hour or so, and I like the warmth. I won't bother you too much (I am a "reads daily, posts infrequently" sort -- and am of course nowhere near as smart as the fine H Rocco. Y'all are going to love him!); I just wanted to get in on this good thing & thank you for allowing me to barge in.
I STILL wish I had a cool name like Thor.
