Here's the track list for Michael Mann's upcoming Miami Vice soundtrack:

    1. "One Of These Mornings" - Moby with Patti LaBelle
    2. "Anthem" - Moby
    3. "Shape Of Things To Come" - Audioslave
    4. "Wide Awake" - Audioslave
    5. "Auto Rock" - Mogwai
    6. "We're Not Here" - Mogwai
    7. "In the Air Tonight" - Nonpoint
    8. "Ready For Love" - India.Arie
    9. "Numb/Encore" - Jay Z/Linkin Park
    10. "Sinner Man (Felix Da Housecat's Heavenly House Mix)" - Nina Simone
    11. "Blacklight Fantasy" - Freaky Chakra
    12. "Strict Machine (We Are Glitter Goldfrapp Mix)" - Goldfrapp
    13. "Arranca" - Manzanita
    14. "Sweep" - Blue Foundation
    15. "Pennies in My Pocket" - Emilio Estefan
    16. "New World in My View" - King Britt & Sister Gertrude Morgan
    17. "Fate Scrapes" - Elliot Goldenthal (from Heat)
    18. "P for Piano" - John Murphy
    19. "Daniel" - James Newton Howard (from Collateral)

Sounds pretty cool to me. Of course, there's the usual suspects: Moby, Audioslave, and the new rendition of "In The Air Tonight." I'm glad to see the Linkin Park/Jay-Z duo track "Numb/Encore" made it into the film, but the instrumental would have been far more satisfying, since it's pretty damn nice.

And also, the inevitable appearance of music from his previous films, Heat and Collateral.

Personally, I'm excited about hearing the piece from James Newton Howard's excellent (and largely unreleased) score to Collateral; "Daniel" is not the original Collateral soundtrack, so hopefully it'll be something memorable. It would have been cool, too, if Mann had included some of Tom Rothrock's excellent pieces that never made it to CD, as well, from Collateral (the drive to the club music he did is incredible, right before the Audioslave song kicks in). John Murphy's "P For Piano" seems to be the only score track composed for the actually film... I guess Lady Badelt's score music wasn't good enough for release (which, I totally understand).

How cool would it be if Mann gave Goldenthal another epic urban canvas to fill? HEAT is a masterful score... glad to see it's at least quality material being recycled.

Good to see an unreleased COLLATERAL cue on the album, though Mann is starting to get into arrears over unreleased quality material...

I expect to hear some Terje Rypdal in the film too... Mann won't be able to resist that brooding weeping electric guitar sound...

This is the correct CD track list:

    In the Air Tonight: Nonpoint
One of These Mornings: Moby w/ Patti LaBelle
    We're No Here: Mogwai
Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat's Heavenly House Remix): Nina Simone
    Auto Rock: Mogwai
    Arranca: Manzanita
    Ready For Love: India.Arie
    Strict Machine: Goldfrapp
Pennies In My Pocket: Emilio Estefan
New World In My View: King Britt
    Sweep: Blue Foundation
    Anthem: Moby
    Blacklight Fantasy: Freaky Chakra
    Mercado Nuevo: John Murphy*
    Who Are You: John Murphy*
Ramblas: King Britt & The Motzer*
A-500: Klaus Badelt & Mark Batson*

    *Indicates score tracks.

I know this because I have it sitting in front of me right now.

The list you have is what is used in the film and is probably non-original music.

I got home late last night and had it on but didn't listen very intently.

I saw the film and would say the CD is very representative of the music in the film. There isn't a lot of score in the film. I think on the CD there are probably less than 10 mins of "score" total.

A lot of the "songs" are instrumental and/or have long instrumental passages. One track, "New World In My View" is mostly a spoken track of a gospel preacher's sermon with music in the background. If that track was in the film, it was probably just the background music without the vocal.

The film was okay, but one of those films where the longer you think about it, the more it totally falls apart. There is little to no character development and there are several early plot devices that you just know will come back into play later in the film.

From what I heard, there were several scenes and sequences deleted from the film that may have helped with character development.

    James
