There have been threads all over the net about who would score Episode III if John Williams were to die before he was able to score it. I know this is a topic that is hard to fathom, but who would score Episode III, the rest of the Harry Potters, possibly a Jurassic Park 4, Indiana Jones 4, and other Spielberg films if John Williams passed away? This may have been discussed before, but I would appreciate your input. Personally, I can't imagine what the world would be like without the maestro, but it will inevitably happen, so....

Ace-one of many that hopes the maestro will live forever.

Jeremy Soule, Joel McNeely, or Michael Giacchino would do a good job on Ep. 3.

John Williams can do Chamber of Secrets, but dang it, Bruce Broughton needs to do the others. He'd write a perfect score. Perhaps moreso than Maestro Williams.

Indy 4? McNeely. His "Chronicles" stuff rocks.

Alas, Williams is gonna live quite a bit longer. He's an energetic fellow and in amazing health for everything he does. Thank goodness.

John Williams will never die if Futurama is actually the future.

Sorry Peter, but I figured that since we weren't discussing an actual soundtrack, I would put this thread somewhere safe. But I understand what you mean Won't happen again

I've a lot about Joel McNeely, but I've never listened to his work. I guess I should! Jeron, I agree, Broughton deserves better.
I have to agree with John Zimmer that Goldenthal "ain't no Star Wars composer," but you never know.

I read on another message board that James Horner should score star wars. What were they thinking? I mean I love some of Horner's work, but that wouldn't work out. What do you guys think?

But...but...if it was in Movie Soundtracks board people would have complained about how the question was asked before.

I think Patrick Doyle has it in him to score just about any movie. Would be interesting to see how he'd tackle something like STAR WARS. Here's a guy who displays real depth and imagination in his orchestral scores, with just the right kind of flourish to carry on the great JW tradition.

Mark McKenzie could probably do a pretty good job, I think. He's already showed he can use other peoples themes in Dragonheart, & he can do that big orchestral style well.

But a bigger worry for me would be if Shore couldn't complete LOTR.

I agree that Patrick Doyle and Mark McKenzie are great composers that could probably get the job done. However, I don't believe that either composer is capable of handling massive projects like Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Sure, they could come up with good themes and action cues, but I doubt that they will come close to the creativity that Williams has put into each of the saga's scores.

    I don't know, there's probably a good chance that I'm wrong, but that's what I think.

Ace-who's bored and felt like responding in this thread
