I don't know how this one slipped by me:

    Does anyone have it?

Uncompetitive relative to other Russian compilations and worse than Kunzel's past recordings.

The opening number, Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmila Overture, is in fact pretty lame. Anything longer than 5:20 is too slow; robs the music of it's pizzazz. Kunzel's 5:40 makes it sound like a funeral march.

Caucasian Sketches, Enchanted Lake, Spartacus... not bad, but pretty average.

The short cues sound more like leftovers to fill the CD: Love for 3 Oranges, Swan Lake, Nutcracker.

Capriccio Espagnol and Polovtsian Dances are pretty good. Especially the Dances which are very energetic.

Great sound, great playing. Not worth 15$ though.

Thanks Dinko. Saved me $13.97 I figured it would be pretty good considering I liked his interpretatinos of some of the Russian pieces on ORCHESTRAL SPECTACULAR and SYMPHONIC SPECTACULAR

I think the Russian Nights are a matter of what works you don't have on the compilation. In reality every selection on the CD can be found on some other recording and better. The problem is you likely would have to buy several CD's to duplicate them. The best of the 15 selections is Khachaturian's love theme from his ballet Spartacus.

I didn't know if it was ok to do that or not. As I said the compilation CD is at best difficult for the seasoned collector.
