I love his TREESONG and YO YO MA PLAYS THE MUSIC FOR JOHN WILLIAMS. My favorite of them all is ELEGY FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA. Are there more cd´s with the classical John Williams floating around? I am especially interested in his symphonies.

    Thank you.

    Philipp

Denouement Records released his trumpet concerto, recorded with Arturo Sandoval and the London Symphony Orchestra, along with a 10-minute piece for strings, and other works by Kevin Iforgothisfamilyname (Kevin Kaska I think).
The trumpet concerto is much closer to his film music that his other concert works.

ASV released one of his other concertos, I think it was the Horn Concerto, conducted by David Snell (the Rachel Portman conductor).

I'll admit that I don't like any of Williams' concert works except the trumpet concerto.
Much of the rest of his concert works just strikes me as boring and pointless noise meandering around for no reason whatsoever.
    But I guess I'm a minority.

I haven't found Five Sacred Trees, but what I listen the most is the Cello Concerto, I love it. The other one I love is Heartwood, but reminds me of sad stuff, so I hardly play it.

If you can find it, Varese Sarabande released a wonderful CD with his Violin Concerto and his Flute Concerto. It's out of print.

Last year on February 24 I went to his 70th Birthday celebration. He opened with his For Seiji, and just as we speak IndySolo sent me the piece from a live recording, oohhh man... it ranks up there with sex
