I know their a few admirer's of this Finnish composer.

Ondine has issued his 8th Symphony only for purchase online. And even, then, it's only available as a mp3 download.
I read in Gramphone magazine that it was too expensive for Ondine to issue a CD, as classical CDs don't do all that well anyway.
Plus the fact of the Philadelphia is considerably more expensive than some Finnish orchestra. Philadelphia commissioned the work anyway.

here is the web address. Look under New releases. The payment system is a bit cooky, but I will try it.

And that's why I'm worried about the visions that in the near future music will be sold only via the internet. 192kbps probably sound ok (and probably not great), but I certainly wouldn't pay for 128kbps.

(That's also why I won't use Napster when it's become commercial - I don't use it to REPLACE CDs, but to either listen to samples BEFORE I buy a CD, or to get a couple of cues that aren't important enough for me to buy them (my collection has nearly reached 400, so I believe nobody can really be angry if I download a couple of mp3's - if I wouldn't buy the CD anyway). But this is getting way off-topic, sorry).

(Also, I'm reluctant to pay any money for 192kbps mp3 files, because I can probably download them from somewhere else, e.g. Napster. Sorry Ondine, but I just don't feel like spending any money on medium-quality sound files, even though I respect that they went this way to make it at least available)

I agree. Web sales are *great*, but let's have losslessly compressed PCM (i.e. actual real honest-to-God CD-quality), not MP3.
