Hello, I consider myself a Clasical music fan along side being a Soundtrack fan....I was wondering what peoples opinions are about movie directors have classical pieces adapted for their films. I am specifically referring to rather radical adaptions, like A Clockwork Orange or like in Boogie Nights. I think this use of classical music is great. What does the rest of the Classical music community think of it?

If the adaptions make narrative sense - like in Clockwork Orange - I'm all for it. If the music is just used as a replacement for original score music, it depends. E.g. I'm perfectly happy with Kubrick's usage of music in 2001, but there are other examples where the non-original music is very out of place.NP: Moby Dick (Philip Sainton)

well, I can see both sides of the 2001 argument. But I have to think North got screwed over. You have to admit though (well, I do), 2001 might not be what it is today, without the classical music.I love the use of the Bach music in Se7en. what a nice contrast to everything else in the movie.
