This film by Republic in 1955 featured Sterling Hayden as Jim Bowie and it was focused on him and not the others so much. Scored by Max Steiner. Low budget version but lots of good character actors in it like Ernest Borgnine, Richard Carlson as Travis(pretty good in his part), Arthur Hunicutt as Crockett.

The funny thing is when they showed the Mexican army each time it was just a few men. No extras, no money. Battle scenes never showed more than a few at a time.

Really funny, the final fight scene with Bowie throwing tables around etc. J.

What man was six-foot six Jim Bowie... not a man would face the bowie knife...

    Or some such....

Right up there with "A man is as good as his word" that opened 'Comanche'....

Kind of like casting Richard Crenna to play H. Ross Perot...
