A proper DVD release....these are ones on my favorites list that have no DVD release at all, or are commercially unavailable in widescreen...-King Kong (1933)
-In Cold Blood
-Eraserhead (though this may change sometime this year)
-The Magnificent Ambersons (1942)
-The Haunting (1963)
-Night of the Hunter (there is a DVD release, but it's bare bones, and not 1.66:1 letterboxed- as it has appeared on TCM)Hope these see a release soon!

I saw The Adventures of Robin Hood on Turner Classic Movies back in March and it looked wickedly good for such an old film. It didn't sound as bad as I would have predicted, either. My granddad and I were in stitches as we watched it, since some of the action stunts were quite amusing!I'd like to see Deadfall on DVD. I've heard it has a robbery intercut with John Barry conducting the orchestra. I guess the rest of the movie isn't that fantastic, though...

Star Trek 2. The Deluxe Edition (i meant) DVD as i read didn't have much of an improvment in sound or picture. A classic Trek film treated that way. No deleted scenes and no isolated score. Were they TRYING to piss me off?Predator
Jaws. I read alot of interesting things that the DVD anniversary set didn't have. I think the post washere. It was missing alot of the deleted scenes the Laserdisc had, something about the FX mix and how it wasn 't the same and the original had won awards. How i'd love to have a VHS tape or DVD-r of those Laserdisc scenes.
Ferris Bueller's Day of and Planes, Trainss and automobiles. Both need proper releases. Two of the funniest movies ever made.
Can we count TV shows here Mr thread starter?

The Hudsucker Proxy was released on DVD, albeit barebones. It had a full screen for those too ignorant about widescreen, AND a widescreen presentation. The Adventures of Robin Hood is a great movie! I'd love to have that.
speaking of old movies I recently bought the new DVD of Thief of Bagdad.
Great stuff, if a little cheesy.remarkable transfer.

In "The Rumor Mill" on the Digital Bits site today, they said this...quote:
Sources at Paramount have given us some hints about upcoming titles for 2003. First of all, there are serious plans to bring a number of classic TV series to DVD this year, including Fraiser, Cheers and Soul Food. There are no dates or other details yet, but certainly good news for fans.So things might be looking up! 'Specially after they get done firing the people in charge of Trek and get someone good in.

I would like for all of the classic Japanese Sci-Fi films like the Godzilla series, Rodan, Battle in Outer Space, The Mysterians etc. etc. to be made available for the US audience.Toho has begun releasing DVDs with 5.1 sound, letterboxed and extras in Japan but alas all we get are crappy dubbed prints that appear to be recycled over and over from prior releases from lesser video companies.

You know what pisses me off?The current show "24" gets a first season dvd release!
The petition from awhile back got:
1195 signatures! That's it? The petition for ALF on DVD got 1768. So why don't we have ALF on DVD?
Perhaps it's time that you stupid people at MGM, Universal and any others start seeing what we want! We ask for it, but i just doesn't happen.
How many businesses would be happy to do what their customers want if they would tell them? Stores even put in forms asking how their service was and how to improve it. We are litterally giving you the info and you don't give a rats arse.
Compare the average price of "24" season 1 boxed set with the total number of sales, then use that same price and compare the theoretical sales for ALF on DVD. I liked ALF, might not buy it, but there are fans of that show out there that would love to have it on DVD.

Wanna go where everybody knows your name? Now you can... again and again and again. On May 20th Paramount will debut Cheers: The Complete First Season. This 4-disc set features all the first season episodes presented in their original 4:3 full screen aspect ratios, plus a bar full of extras: The featurettes "Setting The Bar: A Conversation with Ted Danson," "Love At First Fight: Opposites Distract" and "Coach Ernie Pantusso's Rules of the Game," some "I'll Drink To That: Stormin' Norm-isms," and the trivia game "It's A Little Known Fact...": Retail is $49.95.Wait, do you want more Cheers!? How about Frasier: The Complete First Season, one of the few TV spin-offs to be as successful as the original? Paramount will also debut this 4-disc set on the 20th, with plenty of extras as well: audio commentary on the pilot episode by Peter Casey and David Lee, the featurettes "Behind The Couch: The Making Of Frasier" and "Frasier Crane's Apartment," and a trivia game. All 24 episodes are also presented in 4:3 full screen (the show didn't go HD until last year), and retail is $49.95.
