I took this funny little article from Scifi.com. The bold emphasis is mine. quote: Jurassic IV In The Works? E! Online columnist Anderson Jones reported a rumor that Universal is asking Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg and JP book author Michael Crichton to come up with at least the story for a fourth installment in the dinosaur franchise. Jones reported that the studio was unhappy with how Jurassic Park III turned out, though the sequel made about $180 million at the domestic box office. That film went into production without a finished script. For a fourth installment, Jones reported, the studio wants to pretend that the events of Jurassic Park III never happened and wants the fourth film to end the series. The characters of Ian Malcolm and John Hammond are on the drawing board, Jones reported.
This is all very amusing. Kirk

I haven't seen #3, but they should pretend that Lost World never happened, plus change the first movie so that Hammond and Malcolm die, just as in the book. Then they should do a sequel starting where the novel finished - with rumours of raptors on the continent.

Well personally, I enjoyed Jurassic Park III for what it was. It was fun, didn't take itself too seriously and had some great dinosaur effects, especially the Bird Cage segment near the end...loved that!! I bought the DVD and have seen the movie about four times already simply cos its great to see the effects in action over and over again. Theres also a darker look to the film which I think is great. Oh, and check out that studio built jungle...its incredible. It looks just like the real thing and is very primordial. Reminds me a bit of the Jungle out of the original KONG movie. One of the crew mentions this fact too on one of the DVD extras. Major disappointment though was the cop-out ending which showed evidence of the lack of finished script. The film is also very short, running up to about 1 hour and 20 mins before the End Titles start rolling. Overall rating ***/*****[Message edited by Gae on 04-20-2002]

Oh I liked JP3 a lot, too. I thought it easily surpassed The Lost World, if for no other reason than the fact that this time around the filmmakers actually knew that they couldn't reach the level of the original. If they did make a fourth one, I'd much rather have Joe Johnston & co. back on the job... they knew exactly what they could achieve, and didn't aim any higher. the result was thoroughly fun.I just think the article was funny, and a little suspect. I find it hard to believe that the studio would have any gripes when the movie made that much money. Kirk

About the lame ending . . . If you go to the excellent Jurassic Park website below, click on "cut scenes" under "Jurassic Park 3" on the right side of the page, then scroll down to "original ending," you can call up the script for two alternate endings that apparently were never filmed, either one of which (especially the second) would have been a considerable improvement over what was used: www.jpdatabase.net/#newsitemEpEAkFFZuyiHqzySyR [Message edited by PeterD on 04-21-2002]

Hehe, he had a name as well, but I can't remember it. I see why they left it out, but why did they change the plot so much? The movie is good, but after watching it again and again, it gets pretty dumb. And the ending is just stupid.

I didn't see JP3 and I will not see it. Hollywood lost my attention after the crummy JP2. JP2 was a complete bore. I am glad Hollywood was angry that JP3 did not make enough money. Hollywood should have invested into a better script instead of investing in hype. I am sick of all this hype. I do not go see movies as much because of all the hype around movies. I am not sure I will pay to see Spiderman or Attack of the Clones. If I do pay to see these movies and they turn out to be false advertising, I will get my money back.
