Except for STARSHIP TROOPERS and HOLLOW MAN, there's nothing wrong with your list Ware.

Do you take the Grimms Brothers Fairy Tales as seriously? Probably not, but they are still tales embedded in our culture and for generations to come. You cannot deny their importance on the storytelling level of human existence.

Lightborne--I will grant you that the films have had legendary impact on the world. However--I don't feel it was the story that will be remembered. It all boils down to imagery and characters. The original provided us with truly unforgettable characters (which is part of the story). The success of the films will always remain rooted in the fact that it brought us visuals and effects that no one had seen before.

Somewhat like the Matrix...the story is a crib from Dark City and acting is questionable, but it had a look which ground-breaking. Thus the desperate emulating of it since.

I love Star Wars...for escapist fun. And from that angle I enjoyed TPM and will undoubtedly enjoy AOTC...even with Hayden Christiansen's wooden acting.

I'm actually bashing Lucas's recent bad choices based on serving his own ego/bank account and not the story. I do take it seriously when story suffers. Isn't this what we all bitch about here when it comes to contemporary movies - the lack of a good story?

I think I'll have to agree with Lightborne that one of the big plusses of the Star Wars saga is the story.

At the end of the day, I find the story so compelling becuase, like the Godfather, it's about family.

I think that when a story is about family it automatically goes up a few notches because that's something that nearly every viewer can associate with, and which can deliver on the emotional front.

Say what you want lad, but I think you will have to live with the fact that for now on Jar Jar Binks will be part of "your" culture of story telling, just like the Grimms Brother... Okydai??

I can already picture Lightborne saying this exact words to his sons, while reading some STAR WARS bed time tales!
