The "classic" film Yellowstone Kelly from WBs, was one of several films made in late '50s and early '60s by them to promote their TV stars, who were on various popular shows at the time. Which group of stars was in it:1. John Russell, Clint Walker, Edward Brynes
from Lawman, Cheyenne and 77 Sunset Strip
2. Troy Donahue, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Ty Hardin from Surfside 6, 77 Sunset Strip and Bronco
3. William Reynolds, Richard Long, Peter Breck from Islanders and Gallant Men, and two latter from Big Valley
4. Grant Williams, William Reynolds, Will Hutchins from Surfside 6, same as on 3, and Sugarfoot.
Score was by Howard Jackson and reuse of Max Steiner music from They Died with Their Boots On, Searchers and other films. The theme sounded like vintage Steiner. Steiner is not credited.
Good luck. John.posted 08-09-2001 05:24 AM PT (US)

(Hand raised to the sky.) "I know, I know, teacher!!"I remember(barely) Walker as Yellowstone Kelly. (Can't remember Byrnes in this show, however.)
So it must be 1.

Yes, Joan. That is it. Walker was the lead as you recalled. John Russell was the Indian Chief and Byrne was the young fellow who was killed at the end. He and Walker were both interested in the same woman. Best, John.
