Now that we are out of the 90s, we can look back at the films that came out then. It was overall an excellent decade(better than 80s, though not as good as 70s). So, what was the best film made? Certain films come to mind very quickly...

    -The Thin Red Line-Terrence Malick
    -Boogie Nights-P.T. Anderson
    -The English Patient-Anthony Minghella
-The Silence of the Lambs-Jonathan Demme
    -Pulp Fiction-Quentin Tarantion
    -Apollo 13-Ron Howard
    -American Beauty-Sam Mendes
    -Dances With Wolves-Kevin Costner
    -The Sweet Hereafter-Atom Egoyan
    -Magnolia-P.T. Anderson
    -L.A. Confidential-Curtis Hanson
    -The Usual Suspects-Bryan Singer
    -The Crying Game-Neil Jordan

I would have to say that the best film was either The Thin Red Line, The Sweet Hereafter, Boogie Nights, or The English Patient. Of them, I could not choose the best. I would like some feedback as to what other people feel the best film of the 90s was.

Completely off the top of my head, and thus by no means comprehensive, nor in any order:

    MILLER'S CROSSING (Coen Bros.)
RHAPSODY IN AUGUST (Akira Kurosawa/Ishiro Honda)
    FACE/OFF (John Woo)
THE SIXTH SENSE (F. Night Shyamalan)
TOY STORY 1 and 2 (John Lasseter and company)
    SCHINDLER'S LIST (Steven Spielberg)
THE LEGEND OF DRUNKEN MASTER (Jackie Chan)
    THE RUSSIA HOUSE (Fred Schepisi)
    FIGHT CLUB (David Fincher)
    STARSHIP TROOPERS (Paul Verhoeven)
THE THIN RED LINE (Terrence Malick)
    BATMAN RETURNS (Tim Burton)
    MAGNOLIA (Paul Thomas Anderson)
    RONIN (John Frankenheimer)
    SOUTH PARK (Trey Parker)
    GAMERA 1,2,3 (Shusuke Kaneko)
    WILD BILL (Walter Hill)
BATTLEFIELD EARTH (Roger Christian) JUST KIDDING!

weird little list ... I decided not to duplicate directors, otherwise there'd have been a lot of other choices. Anyway, that's a handy start. I know I'm leaving out stuff, but don't have my old lists in front of me.

How could I forget GOODFELLAS and THE PLAYER ... L.A. CONFIDENTIAL is a great movie, too.
