I really liked the first Toy Story movie, but never saw the sequel. When I noticed that there's a cheap DVD set with both movies coming out, I began to wonder if I should get it.The good news: Apparently, the DVD to the second movie is going to have an iso score track. I have Randy Newman's score the the first film, and really like it, but I don't know the sequel score. So this would be a great opportunity to check out both film and score.
The bad news: Apparently, the DVD to the second movie is going to be a 4:3 Pan & Scan version! The first movie is presented in anamorphic widescreen, but not #2. I generally loathe P&S, but particularly in the case of animated movies, where the whole image is exactly composed, it's a crime.
Please, somebody tell me that both Express.com and DVD Box Office are wrong about this!

Don't worry, Toy Story 2 is in widescreen. They are on the discs both ways, for those idiots (sorry, my term for them) who like P&S.
I preordered the "Toybox" so hopefully I'll have it by Tuesday (or sooner).
Just a side note -- the commercials that are playing on television advertizing the DVD's were made by a friend of mine. Just wanted to give her a plug.

Ultimate Toy Box 3 disc set is widescreen 1.77:1 only (anamorphicaly enhanced). The 2 disc set of just the two movies are BOTH 1.77:1 (anamorphic) and full frame. They are not "P&S", just fullframe, so on those versions you're seeing more top and bottom image should you select to go with 4:3... All the transfers are direct digital transfers.
Before I forget. There is a stock shortage on the Ultimate Toy Box Set and many retailers will not have theirs to put out until the 24th. I don't know which ones...sorry.

I see, thanks. I'll be getting the "normal" 2 disc set, as the deluxe edition is significantly more expensive.

Marian,I just received my "Ultimate Toy Box" in the mail today.
No where does it say that there is an isolated score. Each movie has an isolated sound effects track however.

AAAAARGH! Can it be that all the websites I checked say "isolated score", but mean "isolated effects"?

Kevin, are you sure? According to soundtrack.net, BOTH movie's DVDs have isolated score AND effect tracks. Please, tell me the iso score tracks DO exist!

About the Toy Story box setApparently, Toy Story 1 only has a commentary, while Toy Story 2 has both a Sound FX track AND an Isolated Score track (only in stereo unfortunately). Here is DVD planet with all the info on the goodies

Well, I hope that's true. I have the first score album, so I don't really need an iso score for that one; I just hope the second disc has the iso score. And I'll be also happy to have Luxo Jr.!

Both discs have commentaries (Toy Story's one being a direct port from the LD box set from a few years ago) and it would appear the SFX and score iso tracks are combined as one. A dedicated iso score track was removed when Disney realised it'd eat into the profits in sales of the CDs.Dan (UK)

Actually, it seems there is no score, mixed with effects of otherwise. Shoot.
