    Saying for the day:

    Don't just encourage, inspire.

    Your question:

What is the significance of these films for these composers-one single answer same for all:

    1927-Rio Rita-MD and conductor-Max Steiner
1930-One Heavenly Night-or One Night in Heaven-MD/conductor-Alfred Newman
1929-Ballet music for two MGM musicals-Tiomkin
1930-short main and end titles for 20th CF film-Hugo Friedhofer

What is the significance of all the above?

    Take a guess. John.

Steiner, Newman, Tiomkin and Friedhofer were all conducting works by classical composers?

These were several years before original scores were composed for films, right?

Good guess, Chris, but not the answer. Tiomkin wrote original ballet music for the four early films. One Night in Heaven and Rio Rita were musicals and Friedhofer's was a dramatic or comedy film. Notice the dates. And think about their careers and length of them. Best, John.

These were the FIRST film scores for each composer?

Gold star and a happy face. That's it. The first film they worked on in each case. Best, John.

Chris, that's the educator in me. Being a teacher a good part of my life I enjoy making up tests. By the way, I enjoyed your and all the other comments on the other board about D2 leaving. They were really funny. He will be back.

Will put more on here soon. JW.

"Give me another one and make it tough."

They are all tough for me. Eyes feel stewpid! Guess I'm not good at trivia, and I have to beat myself not to go to IMDB.

Hey John, ask something like, "Who played the Godfather in part I?" (Do any of you know who wanted that Brando part? Big star who was willing to audition for the role, but he wasn't allowed to. Brando got it.)
How about, "Who scored Star Wars? Who wrote Romeo and Juliet? Who starred in Cool Hand Luke?" Now those I can answer!!
