Time for a hint? OK, the first monster was rubber and the second one was plastic and on strings.

    Chris, yes indeed, that's right!

Now a hint for the second one: Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were in it, but it wasn't a Hammer film...

And I didn't mean to be harsh on the makeup or special effects for these films. Creature From The Black Lagoon had a really good quality rubber suit, and the second plastic entity only had strings when it went in front of a differently coloured background... Another clue: the second half of this film is almost completely wordless, relying on Cushing's brilliant performance and a tremendous music score by The Goddess of Horror...

Don't know what that is, Aaron.

So here's my next hint for that Cushing/Lee non-Hammer 60s classic. Don't forget, the line was "De Sade said he wasn't mad, and I believe him. He was far worse than mad. He was possessed. Possessed by an evil spirit. A spirit that still inhabits the plastic entity on strings."

Of course, you have to replace that last bit with the title of the film.

Music by Horror Goddess Elisabeth Lutyens.

    Last lines of the film:
    "So what's the explanation? Witchcraft?"
"Hardly! Not in this day and age. Not in this day and age." (Shot from the plastic entity's point of view.)

The Cushing/Lee film to which you refer is "The Skull." I'm pretty sure that's the title anyway, it's been awhile. It's the one about Marquis de Sade's skull driving Cushing insane.

O.K....I watched the DVD again last night and made a blunder with the quote. It should read...
"It looks terribly difficult...no it isn't, is it?"
I have to say I am sooooo surprised no-one has got this yet! One more clue, this guy was and (still is) as popular as the Beatles in the 60's...from whence the quote comes!
Come on Jeron...you need to visit this page...you'd get it in one. By the way..I hope this thread has'nt died yet....MORE QUOTES AND GUESSES PLEASE!!!!!

Aaron and Gae: so sorry, don't know. Anyway, just to keep this thread from dying completely, here are the last lines of another classic horror from the 60s -

"The death of (so and so), the abduction of (so and so), the rite on the hill...all these things happened, but now they have NOT happened. We have been returned." (or something similar).

    "Thank God."

"Yes, Simon, He IS the one we must thank!" (cue splendid major key version of splendid minor key theme for The End.)

You sad, sad people. Those of you who haven't seen this film are missing one of the most hillarious comedies of the 80's aside from the likes of Mel Brooks.

Ok all, before I give you the answer you may hold your magnums ("It shoots through schools!" hint, hint) up to your head and be prepared to pull the trigger.

The answer is of course, "Johnny Dangerously."

Thunderball, that's the one, well done Gae for guessing it (this is getting surreal!)

Here's a little test, just to see if anyone is really looking at this. I've made it easy enough:

Observer, I don't know where SBD has got to, but I suppose it must be Disclosure right enough: Crichton novel, Italian gent score, with a person who was a doctor in a 70s film (was Michael Douglas a doctor in Coma?)

Anyway, if you're right, Observer, what is the connection between the earlier Michael Douglas film and Disclosure? TOO easy, but SBD decided not to use it as a hint!

Yes, Gae, too easy! That was Bela in Dracula!

I wish I could remember the exact quote, but I think it was an in-joke when the eccentric old wizzened camp character said (I think it was referring to wine too):

    "It's my only weakness!"

I think he also said "Have a potato!"

I can't remember for certain, but I don't think Douglas was a DOCTOR in Coma (I was wondering myself). Anyway, the connection to Crichton is that he was the director on Coma (when filming Great Train Robbery, many of the crew didn't have much trust in Crichton - until he had them watch a copy of his latest film - Coma). Interestingly, the NOVEL Coma is advertised in my Jurassic Park book, although Crichton didn't write it.

As for the Dracula quote, I think Gary Oldman has the same line in Bram Stoker's.
