Bride of Frankenstein was correct, although I'm a little disappointed that no-ones guessed the bowl of soup one yet. Last clues :
It's from a silent film made in the mid 1920's, & it's written, in a foreign language, on a card on a dead body.Someone MUST have seen this film. Surely.

No Gae it's not a 'Carry On' ( I wish I could insert a Sid James laugh here....No one's got a wickeder laugh than him
)Clue?, Cilla Black had a hit with the theme song (not her version used in the film).....I think that's probably made it too easy?!!

I'll give you just a couple more days for the Bowl of Soup one, but I'm going to be very disappointed if no-one gets it.

Either my quotes are too hard (yeah, right!) or you people are ignoring me!In the unlikely event of the former, here are some hints:
1) One of the persons involved with the quote was a "wild and crazy guy".
2) The person who delivered this line played a time traveller.

SBD, I think I'm probably way off?!...is it Back To The Future?!You were spot on Gae, I haven't seen the film in a while, but as I remember Dionne Warwick sang the song over the movies end credits, Sonny Rollins did the very catchy score

SBD, should'nt that read "the latter"?...I'm assuming that you dont want people to ignore you
....as if we would!!! From my point of view, if I dont know the answer (as in this case) then obviously I dont reply. Now, seeing as I like to get a replies to my quotes, here's a nice easy one.
"Thats about as bad as listening to the Beatles without ear muffs"
(surely, one of the most misguided quotes in such a big-hit movie!!!....but only this guy could get away with it!!)

Bah, humbug.
"Killed for a Bowl of Soup" is from Battleship Potemkin. Those of you who've seen it, but don't remember that bit should go see it again, because time spent watching Potemkin is alway time well spent. And those of you who haven't seen it should go now & rent/buy/steal it, because it's absolutely fantastic.Audacity - you can play if you know the answers.

Any thoughts yet on the other one I set?
"Did She Say There's a Rat?"
(help - it's followed by these two lines)
"No, she said there's NO rat."
"That's not what she said."There is a fairly big clue I could give you, but I'll just mention that this IS on a moviemusic message board as a subtle clue...
Unless everyone's just ignoring ME now....

Glad to hear someone else has "discovered" Potemkin. Maybe you should see it again (scary thought, 30 years is like 150% of my lifetime.)

TIME OUT for a quick review:Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin is a timelessly powerful work of art.
It's the very first silent film I ever saw.
I was 17 years old, attending art school, and I was in love with a brand-new film called Planet Of The Apes. The LAST thing that interested me was watching a dusty old silent picture in black & white. I reluctantly marched into the campus theatre, expecting to be bored to sleep.
I was absolutely RIVETED!
From the start, the picture grabbed me. Eisenstein's use of his camera, and even more, his editing, was not only ahead of its time, it was more exciting than most of the new films I was watching! And the same holds true today. The Odessa Steps sequence is like a living nightmare! I revisited the theatre to watch it four more times! Yeah, it's been 30 years since I saw Potemkin, but even so, I've never seen anything like it since.
