Could that possibly be Michael Caine in Get Carter? Which means I owe two quotes. Here's one, which is actually written rather than said.
"Killed for a bowl of soup."
I'll think of another soon.[This message has been edited by Pete M (edited 03 August 2000).]

I'm terrible at quotes, for some reason. Though I notice that a lot of MY submissions have gone unanswered, and they're not from such obscure movies, either ...

MWRuger, it was on the tip of my tongue all the time...I knew it sounded familiar. Its Sidney Greenstreet talking to Bogie in "The Maltese Falcon" isn't it? Either that or "Casablanca"...I cant quite remember which movie it was as they're both similar scenes where Bogie is making a deal with the "Fatman".(No, Im not being sizeist everyone, that was his character's name!!) Pete M: Right again, it is indeed "Get Carter" (which is nice...). Have you got nothing better to do with your time? If not, here's another one, but be careful, it is not what you might initially think..."Whaddaya want us to do with the coke?"

Ralphus did NOT associate with Caligula! He only worked for Sardu! His chief responsibility was feeding p*nis hoagies to a bunch of hairy women locked in Sardu's dungeon!Only ONE GUESS left, Rocco! And then you must PAY!

hate to show ya up in PUBLIC, Mister Smart Guy -- I thought mentioning INCREDIBLE TORTURE SHOW would cinch my joke. That was the original title of, and HERITAGE OF CALIGULA an alternate title for, drumroll please,!!!!!!!!!!!BLOOD SUCKING FREAKS!!!!!!!!!!
(I'd forgotten that BLOOD and SUCKING were spelled as two words in the title, not unlike CHAIN and SAW in the documentary about the Texas massacre.)

Here's a pair of clues : It's written in a foreign language, & it's from a film made pre-1935.
Oh, & another quote for you:"Do you like Gin? It's my only weakness."

Too sleepy to think about this. Michael Beck, that should narrow it down ...I'm VASTLY ANNOYED that no one caught my previous quote, "Inhumanity is immortal!"
I shall have to follow that quote with the dialogue exchange that promptly follows it:
"Why are you fooling around with those island girls? You're supposed to be conserving your energy, like the old days, to take over the world!"
"And you, what did they call you in those days?"
"They used to call me ... Bloody Olga!"
(These quotes are from rough memory, but are completely true to the original, especially "Inhumanity!" and "Bloody Olga!", those two I have MEMORIZED. Hint: the romantic lead is Udo Kier! i.e. it doesn't get more bizarre!)
(c'mon Reifinger! Ralphus is on MY side now!)

I'm taking a wild guess from what I could scour from the IMDB (hopefully that isn't cheating because I have no idea what movie H. Rocco's quoting):And an easy quote while I'm at it:

aaah, I didn't think anybody would get it, although BLOOD FOR DRACULA is a good guess. I'm not sure I'll give it away this second, though ...
(I said Udo Kier as a ROMANTIC lead! Jeez, did NO ONE ELSE see this picture? Not that I recommend it, exactly ...)

Here are my two quotes, since I've been out of the loop for so long. The first one is fairly easy, the second one, not as much.1) "You're playing God!" "SOMEBODY has to!"
2) "One more word out of you, I'll kick your a-- so high up, you'll have to take off your shirt to s--t!"
Anybody?

It bothers holy hell out of me that Burwell is NOT scoring the Coen's O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU -- they chose the music supervisor of THE BIG LEBOWSKI instead (I believe the fellow styles himself as T-Bone Burnett.)
I was heartened to read today that Burwell will reteam with the Coens for their NEXT picture (I just don't know how I could stand it if they didn't like each other anymore.)
