I just read at a German DVD review site that the Jurassic Park DVD is finally official.

Reportedly, both Jurassic Park and Lost World will be released in a DD and a DTS version, but the DTS discs will have not all of the features.

    Features will be:

    • Making of
    • Storyboards
    • Pre-production meetings
    • Foley Artists
    • Phil Tippett Animatics
    • Cast & Filmmaker Biographies
    • Production Photos and Notes
    • Dinosaur Encyclopedia
    • Trailer: Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Jurassic Park III
    • Illustrations & Concept art
    • Industrial Light and Magic
    • The World of Jurassic Park

(No idea what the last two are supposed to be)

They'll be released seperately and together in a box. And, the box will be available in combination with the "soundtrack CD". Does anybody know which soundtrack CD? JP, LW, or both? I don't think we can hope for an expanded JP score relase?

Anyway, I can already hear the dinosarus roaring in my room.

    NP: Barton Fink (Burwell)

Guess a commentary was too much to hope for, hu? I was soooo hopeing Spielberg would do one for Saving Private Ryan, but I guess he didn't wanna sit in a recording booth for that long. I'm still hoping him and Harrison Ford will do one for the Indiana Jones DVDs (if they're ever released), or at least Raiders of the Lost Ark. Hey - I can always dream, can't I?

Or isolated score tracks. In the interview from Nixon's enhanced data track, Williams raves about the new CD technology and that it does allow composers to say something about their music to those who buy it. Sounds like he should be enthusiastic about isolated scores. I was always impressed how Jurassic Park was spotted (don't get me started on how they butchered LW's score).

The box set DOES include both soundtracks. It'll retail for $120.00, whereas the individuals will retail for $26.98. Because of the promotional tie in with JP3, there will be Sneak previews and trailers of JP3 along with links to on location webcast chats with cast, crew, and SFX team. It will also contain a previously unreleased docu on the making of Lost World.

I have heard that Spielberg will never do a commentary for his movies, and I believe it. He said that it takes away from the magic of the movies and he doesn't want to do that to his films. I sorta respect that. But I'd still love to hear them on Indy.

And seeing all those wireframe dinosaurs in the Making Of doesn't? Well, I think he has a point, but still...

Let's hope they change it at the last minute.

As bad as the movie. I'll probably only get Jurassic Park.

I may be in the minority here, but I thought the scores for these films were fairly well presented.

I will just say that I am not a "Gotta have the complete score in film order" guy. I nice sample is good enough for me. To me, both these score accomplished that.

I miss the T-Rex car chase music from the first movie. And the placement of The Raptor Attack on the album doesn't amaze me, either.
