More lists. Of course, in just about every genre there a films that are so poorly made, that they just don't stand a chance; but I would like to limit this list to those films that were "legitimate" A or B films. So, for no reason whatsoever, here are my choices for least favorite films, by genre:Comedy - Young Frankenstein - so popular, but its completely obvious humor (you saw every joke from a mile away), left me ice cold. I never even cracked a smile.
Drama - Easily I could list about a hundred; but my all time least favorite film is probably "The Big Chill". This act fest (hey let's all get together and act) grated so on my nerves, that I have found it very difficult to watch any film with a member of that cast in it. I hated every character in this film.
Horror - "The Blair Witch Project" - even by its own sub-standards of film making, this is horribly made, in every way. For me there were no thrills, chills or scares; just yawns, groans and a really numb ass.
Thriller - about a thousand-way tie here. Is it the dull as dishwater "Basic Instinct" or the silly, illogical "Fatal Attraction", or maybe it's the horribly written "Silence of the Lambs", or the even siller "Jagged Edge" or "No Way Out". I simply can't decide. Let's just say that to me, they all stink.
Musical - Hands down, "My Fair Lady". Why bother calling it a film, at all? No attempt to open up the action (this is a movie, not Sudio One or Playhous 90!). No attempt to breath any excitement into the musical numbers (let's just sleepwalk through them). While we're at it, why not dress everyone inappropriately and make up the women to look like the 1960's? This perhaps greatest of stage musicals deserved better. Much better.
Sci-Fi - not a favorite genre of mine, by any stretch of the imagination; but my vote for least favorite would be "The Star Wars Trilogy". I just lump them all together, since I hated them all just about equally. Although I must admit to despising that Ewok film most.
Sports Themed - "Field of Dreams" - didn't get it. Didn't cry. Hated it. Was bored out of my mind. Of course, Costner ALWAYS has that effect on me. I don't think he should be allowed to be in films.
Fantasy - I can't even think of the film's name, that's how lousy I thought it was. Anyway, that silly film by Ron Howard, with the guy who played Jim Morrison in "The Doors". I'm brain dead, I suppose.
Are there anymore genres that I have forgotten? Oh well, who cares.

Maher, you're about to take some punishment for your statements (of course, you already KNOW that!), however I am here only to take you to task over Young Frankenstein, which I believe is a glorious film satire. You said:
"Young Frankenstein - so popular, but its completely obvious humor (you saw every joke from a mile away)"EVERY joke, Mr. Maher?
...from a MILE AWAY, Mr. Maher?
YOU really expected the Grandfather Clock to chime THIRTEEN times?
YOU really expected the rotting corpse of Baron Frankenstein to hold onto his will?
YOU really expected Frederick to jam the scalpel into his thigh?
YOU really expected Igor to say, "My Grandfather worked for your Grandfather!"?
YOU really expected the horses to shriek at the name of "Frau Blucher"?
YOU really expected anything and everything that Kenneth Mars did in his wonderful tribute to Lionel Atwill?
How much longer must I go on?
Mr. Maher, I can completely understand not liking a film like Young Frankenstein, but your statement of superiority over its content I cannot support. Certainly slapstick humor has many, many OBVIOUS attributes, and Young Frankenstein has many of these, but it also is FULL of surprises for anyone who is watching it for the first time, and my list above only touches upon a handful.
I can list many more without having to do any research...posted 05-04-2000 09:47 PM PT (US)

You're think of WILLOW for the fantasy category.Anyway, here's my picks:
Comedy - Any of them will Will Smith or Adam Sandler.
Drama - Almost all of them.
Horror - the Jason flicks; ELM STREET 2 through 6.
Thriller - "BASIC INSTINCT" (Ditto! Mainly because of Sharon Stone)
Musical - Just about every single one, except for WIZARD OF OZ and a couple Disney ones.
Sci-Fi - MEN IN BLACK (though perhaps that's more comedy than sci-fi, so I'll say THE PHANTOM MENACE.)
Sports - BULL DURHAM (Not because of Costner, who's filmmaking genius, being in it, just because it was one crappy movie.)
Fantasy - can't recall any right now.

Yes, Chris, EVERY SINGLE ONE! Okay, maybe not EVERY one, but most. I stand by my statement that I NEVER cracked a smile. Let's talk about "The Producers". Now THAT's a comedy masterpiece! Brooks has never made another funny movie.
