You can find the CD to Jerome Moross' "The Big Country" at Screen Archives. The cost is $20.Or, you can try to find it on eBay.com. A copy is eventually auctioned off.
Screen Archives, when it first issued the title, had a limited run of deluxe sets with lavish booklet in a box set. Those are scarce. One was on eBay last year and went for a bundle.
The music on the regular CD is the same music and the insert is informative.

Which version are you looking for? The original, or the Silva re-recording?The original you can get at Screen Archives or Intrada, for roughly the same price. The re-recording is available at Footlight or, for a better deal, at www.cheap-cds.com .
Which is the better deal? That's a case of apples and oranges. The OST is complete (72 minutes), but much of the recording is in horrible condition, with static on every conceivable level. The Silva re-recording (Tony Bremner & Philharmonia Orchestra) is less complete (55 minutes), but most of the best stuff is there. Unfortunately, despite Bremner's incredible attention to detail, the performance seems somewhat lackluster and does not have the flare of the original recording. Both CDs have excellent inserts. I have both versions. Good luck.

$12.00 each? Last time I checked, CDRs only cost $1.50. johnoo7chi, you are gonna get in BIG trouble if you sell CDRs with a price markup! I've seen such outright breaking of copyright laws, but please, don't use the MovieMusic.com message boards to assist you in your illegal practice!PeterK

I received a message from you when I told someone that I could make them a cdr of Big Country for 12.00.
What is your problem? Aren't message boards supposed to be open to conversation? Your message site hasn't even been up yet and already you are telling people not to post messages? If you continue to do that, your site may get a bad name. I am not selling blank cdrs, I am selling content, do you know how long it takes to make a cdr and its packaging? It takes time, and I know for a fact that if someone cannot find (if it is out of print) or afford (if a rare score is being auctioned) a soundtrack, then they are willing to have it in any format possible. Why keep music from people? If people enjoy a certain score, should they suffer just because they can't afford it or find it? I say no. I thouroughly believe in NON-CENSORSHIP. Which is obviuosly something that you site does not believe in. The people at film score monthly are sooo much cooler, people that are their board members actually bought cdrs from me. Sure anybody can buy a blank cdr. But they cannot buy a out of print cd for $12.00. And another thing, why haven't you posted my original message?

I think the folks at Ryko have reissued BIG COUNTRY with HOW THE WEST WAS WON. I saw a double-CD at Footlight. Don't know if it's complete.

Well, Johnoo7chi,
I think what PeterK was saying is to be careful in your actions. Selling a cdr with any content for more than the price of the disk itself is against Copyright laws. If PeterK allows this to happen on his board he can be held accountable for promoting illegal activities on his board. If you have a problem with that, you need to contact your councilmember, PeterK really can't do anything about that.A piece of advise: If you want to offer scores for more than the price of a cdr, e-mail the person, don't offer it on the board where everyone can read it. Have a little more sense than that man, or do you want the FBI to show up at your door?
