Does anyone know if there are / were official releases of these scores on CD:

    Saturn 3 -by Elmer Bernstein
Shoot To Kill - by John Scott
The Black Hole - by John Barry
King Kong LIves - again John Scott
TRON - by Wendy (before: William) Carlos

of the first four I heard there were bootlegs, but since I don't trust bootlegs, I would like a promo or something more official...
but of TRON I have heard nothing at all so far...

    thanx,
    floyd

None of these ever had official releases. Just boots and promos. I myself have Black Hole and Tron. Saturn 3 and Black Hole I beleive are still available from Screen Archives. If you go to Wendy Carlos website, there is information there about her upcoming complete Tron score release. She is in the process of remastering and putting it together for release.

While I don't know about cd releases I do know that all of these scores with the exception of Saturn3 were released on LP and tape.

An expanded "Tron" is due out on Wendy Carlos' label next month.

"The Black Hole" is available on an Italian import (the label is "Mask," I'm not sure this isn't a boot), with FANTASTIC sound (it's better than the LP, believe it or not). It's coupled with "Howard the Duck" and a few other tracks. There is also a suite from "The Black Hole" that adds no additional score (although it has different variations on the main theme).

"King Kong Lives" is a rare CD, but the LP is moderately plentiful, at least around here in New York.

I'd love to have "Saturn 3..."

    Hi!
I'm one of those FSM "boat people". This is a warm and friendly place! I think I'll stay
Listen, I HAVE an "archival"/"promo"/probably boot of SATURN 3. It is coupled on the CD with the kicky electronic score for THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI. Running time on the S3 score is 33:56; and if it is a bootleg, you couldn't ask for much better sound quality. I purchased mine from Sound Track Album Retailers (STAR) for about $35 oh, 6-8 months ago. Give 'em a try at www.soundtrak.com -- they're a pretty cool sort of Mom & Pop outfit that does orders over the phone, as well.
Marky's big present to himself in about a month (when income taxes get back from electronic filing) is going to be a CD burner. If any of you would like for me to burn that (or something else in my collection) off for you, let me know. I'm "myspark@hotmail.com". Fair warning: my collection is only 200-250 CDs strong, with a few hard-to-finds & a ton of the readily available and/or electronic scores that the "purists" wouldn't be caught dead with. Anyway, Good Luck....& let me know in a few weeks if still no joy.

There is a Japanese release of KING KONG LIVES under the title KING KONG 2. On Victor. I saw one on Ebay about 6-8 months ago. I believe it went for over $200.00. Yikes!

Hey DrDetriot, what is the total runninf tme of yor Saturn 3 and are you sure it isn't just that and AOBB at the end?

And come on people, you seem to like getting these boots at places for money, but then you list theirs addresses. If yo want to continue to buy these things, you should not post theirs addresses. Some of these places are going to get sued into the ground.
