I saw the trailer for Spielbergs new film Minority Report expecting to hear some Jonny Williams, and lo and behold I was very intertained by the trailer because the whole thing was cut using Jerry Goldsmith's score for THE 13TH WARRIOR.Then I thought wow Spielberg should have used Jerry to score the film to begin with, it really looked like the type of film that Jerry would inspire him to create an action masterpiece.

Though I agree that Goldsmith probably has what it takes to make a great score for Minority Report, I think Williams will do a superb job on it. I expect to hear a more action-packed score, unlike many of Williams recent works. Maybe not like the vintage-Williams that we all love, but more like a cross between the action cues on A.I. and the Last Crusade. Maybe not. I hope it proves to be more inmpressive than Potter.
As for the trailer, the film looks awesome. The music used in the trailer is equally awesome. Except, I don't know about the use of Gladiator in the very beginning. Maybe it was used to cath our attention. Other than that, I thought Backdraft and the 13th Warrior were used perfectly.

I just read a review of the Minority Report trailer in the Sacramneto Bee. The writer commented on how well John L. Williams' music fits with the trailer.
This reminded me of the Julia Robert's "Tom Conti" moment at this year's Oscars. Show some respect.

Anyway, I thought I would note how much "normal" people underappreciate scores and their composers. I mean, there wasn't even one Williams cue in the trailer. And he calls himself a professional.

I agree but if John Williams had written the trailer score in the first place, people would not make those mistakes. He is from the older generation. He doesn't realize composers are not allowed time to create trailer scores anymore. Another Hollywood trick created by the damaging managers. In the old days trailers contained the composer's work.
