I would sit through Toy Story a thousand more times just to see that preview again. Never have I seen so many people suddenly fall silent. It was amazing! Go see Toy Story 2, even if you don't want to, just to see the majesty that oozes off of the screen (not the best word selection, I know.)

Anyways, does anyone know where the music used came from in the trailer? Or who is composing this movie. I heard from the IMDB that it's James Newton Howard, but I've heard differently from other sources. Any thoughts on this?

Are you talking about the one where the first half had the choral music going while showing off the computer graphics? That was fun until the point where it got cut off and was replaced by cheesy, metallica-wannabe music. I think that trailer was released two months ago or so.

I think that's the trailer... at www.movie-list.com somewhere

Sean is right that there was a trailer but I don't think it was ever released into theaters. This is more of a teaser containing the first five minutes of the film. It is verbatim what happens at the beggining of the film and then it goes on the the last surviving dinosaurs of the extinction. The choral music used in the trailer (which later goes into rock) is what is used through the whole teaser (the five minute one) so it looks like that that is most likely the actual score to the movie.

Wasn't that awesome? I was absolutely stunned by that trailer. I can't wait until it is released!

Oh ok... then I saw the wrong trailer. Can anyone give me a URL (if it exists) to this new, 5 minute trailer?

The new 5 min one is the actual first 5 mins of the movie. Remember Disney like doing this? They like showing off the opening of their next feature before a showing of their latest one on current release, common for them. It's not really considered a trailer, more of a promo, and possibly too long to go on line.

The teaser trailer (with the beautiful music, then the awful rock sh*t) is online as said above though. It was shown in selected theatres with Tarzan.

I can't comment on the new 5 min preview of the movie, I doubt I will until Toy Story 2 opens here in Feb.

I just saw the DINOSAUR trailer two days ago, and the whole thing is orchestral from top to bottom. Funny, I didn't know James Newton Howard was scoring it, and I was puzzled at how the style seemed to hop from Horner to Zimmer and back again. My best guess is that the trailer comprises the ENTIRE first few minutes of DINOSAUR, and that ALL the music in the newest version is by James Newton Howard. Remember, Disney did the same thing with the LION KING trailer, just running the whole "Circle of Life" opening exactly as they intended to show it in theaters later. Same idea here.

My second posting here, and I hardly know what to do with these icons on the top ...

I just saw Toy Story 2 for the third time (what a film). I had two friends along who were blown away by the trailer/teaser for Dinosaur. The score is impressive, but I'm curious if all of it is going to be on the eventual cd? This is one film which could be wall to wall music and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the movie's length and how much of it is scored.

The Dinosaur 5 min. 'trailer' is officialy called a 'featurette'. I'm a manager at a theatre and build the movies (from the transport reels). It is "almost" verbatim the first 5 minutes of the movie (visuals, not score). I think there will be some narration during the opening sequence to lead in. The dinosaurs talk in this movie.
Also, there is a cut after the T-rex comes thundering out of the jungle and is gaining on the slower triceratopts(?), all of a sudden it switches to a long shot and through the dust cloud the T-rex has already caught the triceratopts and is eating him. I think they cut the actual catch and kill because it would have been to much for the little kiddies that were in Toy Story 2. A PG rating is likely. I got all this from and industry (exhibition) publication.

You know, I think this is actually an edited down version of the opening of Dinosaur having now seen it myself.

The teaser trailer from last summer for the movie shows a fair ammount of shots not in this new version. And they're shots that are obviously continuations of what we see in the 5 min "featurette".

I saw the trailer on Toy Story 2, and I almost cried it was so beautiful. Then I sent on the net and downloaded a trailer for it. When I watched the trailer I was struck by horror by the rock music blaring through my speakers. I hate rock music for a film such as this and the music for JNH will be phenomonal for this movie!

    Starblade-

    Just to clear up any confusion, it's not a T-Rex, it's a Ceratosaurus. And it's not a Triceratops, it's a Pachyrhinosaurus.

    heh heh...

Thanks for the heads up, James. I'm not all that proficient when it comes to dinosaurs. All I know is that they're big lizards (birds?) with BIG teeth and horns........

Anyone want to hear more music that sounds like the slow theme in the beggining of the Dinosaur trailer, listen to the first minute of track 23 (Mariner's Goodbye) on the Waterworld score.
