It's a new edition of my E-note composer interviews at iFmagazine.com, as I interview composer Atticus Ross on his uniquely apocalyptic scoring debut for THE BOOK OF ELI. Read the chapter here.

I saw this the other day. Both the film and the score was interesting. Since we have a whole rash of these movies now, it seems a lot of folks are interested in this now for many reasons, 2010 controversy, Nostradamus and all that sort of thing.

Although the language and violence was typical of many films out there today, there were several messages in this film that came through. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but for those of you who do see it, think about what all its trying to say. I don't think the makers of the film realized what all they put in there, because there are several things that are either sneaky by them, or inadvertant. Since I am not quite sure of their motives and what exactly they think, I am not sure which it is. It is powerful in many ways.

    J.
