I thought I read somewhere that it's a digital only release.

Nothing wrong with that by me. Even the detractor/audiophiles here may not have an argument now that AAC and mp3 stores sell music at a MINIMUM of 256kbps compression.

    Plus, it's Hans phreekin' Zimmer.

It was just a comment If I was gonna have that debate with you, I'd just rather call you LOL. I can speak my position and various off shots of arguments if I speak it. Typing might take me a while LOL.

Wasn't try to start a debate either. Personally, I now how have so much less room for new discs that I have to be selective. As far as the mp3 argument; its hard for me to make as my ears aren't the same as any one else's.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to this one as well.

I want a disc, not a digital release. And if it is digital than I want it lossless. I can hear the difference.

    Folks,

Soundtrackcollector.com lists the physical CD available on Jan 12th in the U.S. with an added 5.1 surround sound download like the treatment they gave the harry Potter disc from this summer. might be worth waiting for...

That's actually good news. I hate downloads. I want a physical product sitting on my shelf ready to be taken out and with me in the car whenever I want (and not a home-made CD-R but a professional pressed product). But that's just me...

I think the totality of it is December 22nd is the date of the digital release while physical would be 1/12/10. With the added 5.1 surround download, that leads me to believe this is not a CD-R.

I personally was fine with digital only, but on this news, I've changed my mind and I'll be eager to pursue the January release.
It'll be my first disc of 2010.

I saw the film. Disappointing. Very chaotic, clunky, I thought, despite a few decent sequences/ideas.

The score was quite good in the movie, and for what the movie needed, but outside of one great cue (quiet in the midst of thunder, if you will, without giving anything away), I found it of the kind I likely would never listen to on its own. Too much fiddling, busy strings, quirkiness, etc.

But I do give ZImmer credit for A) enhancing a movie with his score, B) doing something different that doesn't feel like a ripoff of ten other movie scores, including his own.

Based on the sound clips from Amazon.com, the score sounds like it'll be a fresh and engaging listening experience. Probably won't get to see the movie anytime soon though.

I have to say... Two thumbs up for Hans. This score is refreshing. It has his trademark style, yet contains subtle new ideas. He is a true follower of Holst. By all means the musical color is almost Holst like.

Way way better than Avatar. And no pop song! *hahaha*
