Dark Horizons reports that Danny Elfman has been replaced as the composer for the Wolfman
film by a former member of Tangerine Dream.Looks like Legend all over again, especially since Elfman had finished the score. Why they couldn't have released this movie earlier, what with the test screenings being positive,is beyond me.

That's just it; the speculation is that the test screenings weren't good or, despite them being good, the producers and Joe Johnston didn't see eye to eye. They wanted to re edit and Elfman couldn't come back in to make composition changes.

It's a dumb tactic, really. Wouldn't it be more money to have someone else come in to compose and record new music?

Well, that's Hollywood for you. This production was troubled from the start. They pushed back the date at least once to account for effects.

maybe Elfman's score was really that poor this time, who knows, maybe inspiration has left him for a while judging by the Hellboy2 and T4...

Well, that may have been doing something for the paycheck. A composer has to eat, too. I actually enjoyed Terminator Salvation. When Elfman does action, it usually is better than the film (Planet of the Apes, case in point- he did some interest things there).

Which Tangerine Dream member is it? Christopher Franke? I wouldn't mind hearing him do it.

Also, Elfman's Terminator: Solution score was not good and he hasn't done anything spectacular in a while, so I don't really care that he's off.

Please not Franke. I think Paul Hasinger has a better chance given he scored two Underworld movies.

I thought his score for T4 was not so bad at all. I really didn't like is score for Hellboy 2. Still, I'd take Elfman over a Tangerine Dream member any day.

Seems I was right about it being Haslinger.

Haslinger isn't so bad. I actually enjoyed his score to The Girl Next Door... though that really wouldn't fit in Wolfman. I am kind of sad Elfman isn't scoring this, I felt maybe this would get him back into the fun swing of things.

That's too bad. I haven't bought an Elfman score in an age. I was interested in this one.
