    Some new Varese:

    THE GENE GENERATION
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Scott Glasgow
    BAI LING

In the futuristic world of Olympia, Michelle (Bai Ling) fights DNA Hackers who use their skills to hack into people’s bodies and kill them. She is an assassin, battling her past demons and trying to keep her younger and extroverted brother, Jackie (Parry Shen), out of trouble. But when Jackie gets involved in a petty crime of robbery, he propels himself into the world of DNA Hackers, loan shark Shylocks and Gang Fights. Wanting the respect that the world has never given him only makes it harder for Jackie to peel himself away from the underground trades — against the hopes of Michelle, who always wanted to leave the city and lead a calm and quiet life. As emotions and gunfire get into the way, Michelle and Jackie soon find themselves fighting for their lives, finding out that in an immoral world, love can still survive — and that blood is thicker than water.

The striking and exotic score for THE GENE GENERATION is from horror/sci-fi newcomer Scott Glasgow.

Already an international sensation, THE GENE GENERATION makes its DVD debut in January 2009.

    PHOEBE IN WONDERLAND
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Christophe Beck
A young girl (Elle Fanning) longs to be in her school’s production of “Alice in Wonderland.” After being cast in the lead role of Alice by her eccentric drama teacher (Patricia Clarkson), Phoebe reveals a unique talent but, much like Alice herself, is increasingly at odds with the world around her and begins to retreat into a world of her imagination. Though her parents (Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman) initially see their daughter’s unusual behavior as signs of creativity, they gradually realize that Phoebe is at risk of falling “through the looking glass.”

The enchanting score is by Christophe Beck.

ThinkFilm! opens PHOEBE IN WONDERLAND in limited release on March 6.

    DUPLICITY
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Music Composed by James Newton Howard
    Includes the song “Being Bad”
    by the electronic duo Bitter:Sweet

Oscar® winner Julia Roberts and Clive Owen reunite for Duplicity, from writer/director Tony Gilroy (seven-time Oscar®-nominated Michael Clayton).

In the film, they star as spies-turned-corporate operatives in the midst of a clandestine love affair. When they find themselves embroiled in a high-stakes espionage game, they discover the toughest part of the job is deciding how much to trust the one you love.

CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Roberts) and MI6 agent Ray Koval (Owen) have left the world of government intelligence to cash in on the highly profitable cold war raging between two rival multinational corporations. Their mission? Secure the formula for a product that will bring a fortune to the company that patents it first.

For their employers — industry titan Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) and buccaneer CEO Dick Garsik (Paul Giamatti) — nothing is out of bounds. But as the stakes rise, the mystery deepens and the tactics get dirtier, the trickiest secret for Claire and Ray is their growing attraction. And as they each try to stay one double-cross ahead, two career loners find their schemes endangered by the only thing they can't cheat their way out of: love.

Fresh off a blockbuster year that included the score for The Dark Knight and an Oscar® nomination for Defiance, James Newton Howard adds this striking new thriller score to his impressive tally.

Universal Pictures opens DUPLICITY nationwide on March 20.

    KNOWING
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Marco Beltrami
    Nicolas Cage

Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Leaving Las Vegas) stars in KNOWING, a gripping action-thriller of global proportions about a professor who stumbles on terrifying predictions about the future — and sets out to prevent them from coming true.

In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule’s contents and the girl’s cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Koestler. But it is Caleb’s father, professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As Ted further unravels the document’s chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events — the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son. When Ted’s attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

KNOWING is the latest film from acclaimed director Alex Proyas, who created the stylish sci-fi classics The Crow, I, Robot and Dark City.

The apocalyptic score is by Marco Beltrami.

Summit Entertainment opens KNOWING nationwide on March 20.
