    Okay, first off:

Why no Season 4 album from Varese? Because the season was half as long, or have the other albums not sold well? I recently got into the show and have all but caught up to where Season 5's at now... just a couple more episodes to go until I'm up-to-date in real time.

Up until recently I haven't really enjoyed Giacchino's music in most of what he's worked on, but after diving head first into the show, I've really come to appreciate, if not adore his work on LOST. I'm not sure if it's my adoration for the show that's translating to the music (more than likely), but I do dig the music and it really adds a lot of unique character to the unfolding drama.

Before even starting the show, I'd purchased the LOST albums each time one was released, in an attempt to discover something new about Giacchino that might allow me to appreciate the composer's work a bit more. Well, obviously I wasn't able to get into them due to having not seen the show... but now, like I said: new appreciation.

So, are there any plans to release new albums, beyond the three they've already put out? The 2-disc Season 3 album was fantastic, and the 2 releases prior to that were just as enjoyable and summed up the score into a very satisfying compilation.

Erik, or anyone else -- speak up. I wanna know if there's any speculation on this!

I can't answer your question about season 4 but if you want to appreciate his music even more, check out is work on the TV show "Fringe". It is no less than spectacular, IMO.

    Adoy,

"Fringe" is a really good show IMO. While I don't think the music is really anything memorable, it does work very very well within the framework of the show.

    Jeron,

Due to the success of the show, I'm sure it's coming. Have patience

Jeron! You were tricked by that goofball show! Smarten' up. Only a handful of episodes qualify as good, and the music works, but that's all that can be said about it. I am comforted that Giacchino was "born" to score Star Trek, though--makes me feel good on the inside.

Brian, you like a lot s.h.i.t. there, buddy! At least neither of us has anything to say about the Fringe music.

I never thought I'd say this... but... I hope before we see a season 4 LOST album, we see a season 4 BSG album. And I hope they go to a double disc on this last season.

Over at Bear's blog, there's some talk already...

There's been so much good music in Season 4, I hope Bear and LaLa do a 2 disc set.

However, it does look like some more music might be coming out even after Seaosn 4's disc is done:

So I think it will be a good fit all around

Giacchino's music for LOST is brilliant, for the show itself and the medium in general; but i guess you already know that.

As for a cd release of season 4, i'd expect one around April / May, this year. S.4 contains some of the most powerful and emotional music he's written for the entire show, that "freighter" theme on its own is some of the most impressive LOST writing.

Michael, come on, Battlestar Galactica's music has always been better than what's heard on Lost. I, too, share your hopes! "Gaeta's Lament" or whatever it's called has been the best thing I've heard this season, outside of Bear's excellent score to Razor.

I don't think Michael hasn't written any music for FRINGE since the first episode.

Ryan, you get an F for the use of a double negative.
