    Hey,

Anyone check out the "Valkyrie" site lately? The music is darn cool...but I'm guessing its some Immediate Music stuff.

Dan, has Ottman even recorded anything yet?

    Hello,
I went to that site and it is indeed "bad arsed!" I am a WWII buff, student or what have you and know all about that story and what happened. When is the movie coming out because that is one I will not miss.
    Take care,

So, having seen the trailer I must say that I am interested. Looks like Bryan Singer is back in his element.

However, seeing Tom Cruise...being Tom Cruise with different hair and an eye patch feels off. Couple that with the fact he is surrounded by the like of Kenneth Branagh it feels even more strange.

I will be seeing this one and hope that it can overcome the Cruise being Cruise factor.

Quill: Tom Cruise is fine... If there's anything to worry about (and I don't believe there is) than it'd be Kenneth Branagh; and of course, John Ottman.

Sorry, Kenneth Branagh is terrible, as are his Shakespeare movies: Can't stand his output. John Ottman is a mediocre composer, too.

Kenneth Branagh was the last man to use 70mm well on an epic canvas. I bow the knee, even if I don't go for most of his non-Shakespeare films.

    Tom Cruise fine?
    Tom Cruise fine?
LOL. Oh my, and Keneth Branagh is terrible.
    And Tom Crusie fine?
Sean, with all due respect, you don't know crapp about acting.
    Tom Crusie doesn't act.
Tom Crusie plays Tom Crusie. We does it rather well, but he can't act. Sorry, and I have every acting teacher, actor and most directors I know agree with me, not that that would ever weigh on you.
But, yeah, Tom Cruise fine in comparison...yeah, that's really funny.
    Wow!

Scott: I only own a handful of movies with Cruise in them and none of them have to do with the fact that Cruise is in them, but Kenneth Branagh just doesn't doesn't do a damn thing for me, his films or his acting, whereas Tom Cruise doesn't bother me one way or the other; I like how you took "is fine" from me and blew it up to me making some kind of a stance on his acting abilities beyond "is fine"... Great work: And your "all due respect" is complete and utter bull-s.h.i.t. within your sentence. The comment about your "acting teacher" friends is downright hilarious.

Being a history/geography teacher and interested in tons of things like this, I also know quite a lot about the story and what all happens etc. But I also am looking forward to it.

Critics are slamming Cruse already on this one, saying hes terrible in it. Well see though.

John, could you provide some links to reviews?

Because the only "critics" I seemed to have found were off the "arm chair" variety who are simply hating on the fact that it's a Cruise movie. It seems very little of them have seen anything outside of the trailers.

Some internet folk who have seen the film are saying very favorable things, though. And even Peter Bart has said it's "a superb thriller". Both Variety and the Independent had articles about positive test screenings.

Must have been a different trailer to the one I saw on the internet last week. Whoever cut THAT trailer is the first trailer editor to get me interested in watching a film just by seeing the trailer in three years or so.

Saw another little TV spot last night...the movie looks really good, but every time I hear Tom Cruise talk it jars me out of the moment.

    It is simply poor casting.

If they only could have gotten Val Kilmer to slim down and act normally, he might have been a good choice. He could pull off a subtle but necessary accent. Crap, even DiCaprio could do a better job (I'm looking to Blood Diamond for inspiration.)

Tom Cruise is simply Tom Cruise in this movie. His best roles are when we stretches and dumps that persona (Interview with a Vampire, Tropic Thunder...)

But the problem is this: none of the actors use a phony German accent! General Zod, Davey Jones, Dr. Frankenstein, Carmine Falcone; none of them use an accent that isn't their own.

And gkgyver, I was under the impression that you and Sean went on a date to see QoS, thus it should read like this: "You sure that wasn't your date, [pause] Sean?"

The English language, what powers it holds!

    Hey, Kiwi, let's rumble!

Yes, but the british accent has a tendency to "feel" european. If you look back through movie history you will see that effect.

Tom Cruise's voice, is simply too "common american" to even feel right.

Better no accent than a bad accent.

(And yeah, sure, Meryl Streep would probably do a better German accent.)
