What audience was that? I saw it three times in the theatre and it got applause all three times; everyone seemed pretty pleased with it.

I was very entertained by NCfOM! I was the audience!

But, Quill, if you feel this way towards No Country and its "contempt" for the audience, then you might want to avoid Burn After Reading as it has genuine fun taking advantage of its audience; which is probably why I loved it so much.

There will be no lightning bolts my friends. I completely understand the points trying to be made...for me it is simply poor film making. It is truly a shame - the first 3/4 of the movie were excellent.

As fas as the middle finger goes, it was either Brolin or the brothers themselves who effectively said that during one of the acceptance speeches.

Despite what the Coens have indicated about NCFOM, I felt like the movie was bookended fairly well with the Tommy Lee Jones monologue. Now BURN AFTER READING, I did feel like I was jipped at the end. It was like the three o'clock in the morning ending where you have a character saying "...and then this happened and then this happened."

Nice wrap-up though, Quill. I liked thi spost a lot. Although, I was fairly disappointed by the summer fare. THE HAPPENING, MUMMY 3, the travesty that was the 4th Indy Film, and the third acts of HANCOCK, IRON MAN, WANTED and even HULK...it's like they all go running along really nicely and then devolve into this cliche schlock or unbelievable ending. THE DARK KNIGHT was the only one that really delivered for me this summer on all levels. The emotional brilliance of the "Harvey Two-Face" theme is that it simultaneously captures the tragedy and honor of the character in its elegance. Someone stated before that this character's struggle was the heart of DARK KNIGHT...and it was. This was exactly what Anakin's struggle should've been BTW, Lucas.

Haven't seen WALL-E yet...(mostly because I heard that... and eventually saw that...humans are actually in the film. Right there, I was turned off and skipped paying for it at the theatre. I swore off SPEED RACER, too, because of what I saw in the trailer. I recently rented it and was surprised by the intensity of the dramatic scenes between Goodman/Sarandon and Emile Hirsch. And I actually liked Giachinno's score enough to pick it up. TROPIC THUNDER I saw recently and thought it was okay. PRINCE CASPIAN was better than the first one I thought.

I think the Fall will be my makeup season for movies. With the Daniel Craig vehicles DEFIANCE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE,along with Fincher's THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, I think I'll be ready to enter the first run theaters again. Not to mention the annual 3-D IMAX release of NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
