I mispelled Forbidden Kingdom, I know.OK I was somewhat relaxed about Amazon releasing stuff on CDR, but I figured it was a better alternative to an MP3 only release.
Now when I get my copy of Forbidden Kingdom, I'm sorry that I was so forgiving.First off the Paint on the front label is still wet and smudges very easily, Before I noticed it I had already smudged it!
Second theres some sort of ressidue from glue or the wet paint that has been dripped and smeared all over the surface of the disc! And it does not rub off with a damp soft cloth. I'm afraid to use Windex or something stronger.
How could the QC department have over looked this? This is'nt a passible defect that can be assumed to still play fine.I'm going to take a picture of the disc's surface and post it on Amazon!
I have'nt tried playing the disc yet, but I'm currently ripping it to my Hard Drive.
There are no errors yet but its ripping very slowly.
This is unacceptable! I'm going to return it.[Message edited by TimT on 07-29-2008]

Same here. The back of my CDR is covered in ink and glue. I contacted Amazon and they're sending me a replacement AND refunding my money, plus I don't need to return the original...What a mess!

Thats not the deal they gave me. They are sending me a replacement only. How'd you get a Refund included?
They are sending me a replacement, but I have to return my copy with in 30 days.
Did you request a refund or a replacment?[Message edited by TimT on 07-30-2008]

Why am I not surprised by this. You already know what I think about Amazon's CDR factory...

Oops, sorry Tim, I re-read the e-mail I got from Amazon. It was very long and complicated and I am easily confused. I'm not getting a refund... maybe I should, though...?

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail. If what has happened to you gents happens to me, I'm going to rip Amazon a new one by posting a review on their site explaining the crappy quality of the product. Those of you who have had this experience really should post a review of your own on Amazon. They get enough complaints about the product, they might actually do something! In the meantime, at least other buyers would be forewarned.

I stand corrected by PeterK who called it from the beginning. Sounds like Amazon is getting cheaper and cheaper with these CD-R releases.

It's sad to read about this. I really hope this isn't the future of score releases at least on Amazon. I know scores from Intrada, FSM and Varese will be factory pressed discs but from Amazon it seems they're being very lazy about this.

Just to update, I recieved the replacement CD today. And this time they got it.
The sound quality of the score is really good, the best I've heard in a long time.
And sounds awsome in Dolby ProLogic II Music, if any of you have that setting in a 5.1 setup, try it out!

Got my copy today, and with the same problems as others have mentioned. Paint rubs off on the front side of the cd, some kind of residue on much of the recorded side of the cd that will not come off.The thing won't even play in my cd player. Back it goes. Hopefully I'll get lucky like an earlier poster and the second time will be the charm.

Hey Tim if you need to lighten up the pic and if you're on PC download a program called IraFanView. It's a free photo resizer and a great one at that. It can also lighten up pictures (shift+u). I just posted the keyboard control shortcut. Anyways just a little tip for ya.

Don't have the flash on for something like that, just make sure you have enough lighting in the room so you can still see things pretty good. What kind of camera do you have?

You mean they actually posted it online! Wow I'm shocked. I didn't think they would post a negative review about their own product. So yeah, that was me. Hopefully it will alert potential buyers to the problem

You actually did a very good job on the pic Tim.
Yikes that's sad to see the CD in that state. That looks like something when I didn't take care of my CD's about 5-6 years ago.Edit: I think I have the same camera.

That's pretty bad (the disc, not the picture). Hopefully this is just specific to this title and they'll get their act together. Did anyone have this problem on The Incredible Hulk?

I had no problems with the Hulk, but I think PeterK did. Check out his post above.

"This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer."I wonder if it was lack of demand. Or a whole bunch of complaints? Hmm.

Hehehe I wonder if it has anything to do with the pic of the CD-R I posted yesterday, and the review 10arrows and I posted the day before.

I originally found out about this release by reading this thread. Yesterday, I received an email from Amazon recommending this CD. I was confused as to why they would be recommending an item which had been discontinued. I clicked on the link to see what was going on. Apparently it was re-continued.While browsing I found another Amazon CDR release: The Bank Job by J. Peter Robinson. I would have been interested in this if it weren't a CDR. And 15.99?! Shouldn't it be less? 10-12 bucks would seem more appropriate (more than a download but less than an actual pressed disc).
Although that would still too much (IMO). I wouldn't pay that much either, but $15.99 is ridiculous.

Aren't downloaded CD's 9.99-11.99? So you're not getting compressed music and you're getting an actual physical product. 10-12 is the price of a downloaded CD.

I was guessing that 9.99 was the average price for a downloaded album (which is still too much IMO). I've never paid for a downloaded album, so I wasn't sure.
So, CDR and actual pressed CD releases should be the same price? Doesn't it cost less to release on CDR? I agee with PeterK that Amazon is embracing the super cheap to make a buck. And that it's insulting. I'll be passing on anything released on CDR.
I did buy "The Incredible Hulk" - before I knew it was a CDR release. After I read about it being a cheap-o CDR release I sent it back as soon as it arrived.
